Agreed. I was in Tuscaloosa in 2007, and the Bama fans were telling me the only reason we won was because of Saban's players. I'm sure they were pissed about how the 2007 season ended, but they were able to see the big picture.

Good post.
I would add that Jerry Stovall was sort of an "emergency hire" after the tradegy that was Bo Rein (RIP). Had Bo not been killed, who knows, he may still be LSU HC today. He was an up-and-coming HC that had done pretty well at NCST, and IMHO should be counted as a good hire, which would make the record 3-4.
Not even sure that Stovall really wanted to be the LSU HC.
Even that makes hiring a new HC about a 50/50 proposition, and not one that should be entered voluntarily after a coach that is winning nearly 80% of his games.
