Gibbs isn't much in front of Landry for sure. But is another great defensive player.

+1. Gibbs could be batting a buck fifty and still playing that gay-assed music when he comes to the plate and he would still be in the line-up. Catchers of his caliber are rare.

Comparing offensive stats for these two positions is silly. If you have a great defensive catcher that calls a great game then most coaches would be happy if he hits over .250 and has the ability to drive in a few runs.

Not saying that he set the world on fire (.294), but he still had a better BA in conference play last year than Helenihi, Shimpf and Ochinko.
Ochinko never played regularly last season so he could never get going, so he had a bad batting average.
At least Shimpf hit homeruns and gave us some offense.
And Helenihi started off good (batting .330) but then he slumped from there on out. Helenihi was about the same level as Landry last season.

From a batting standpoint, I put these 2 at about even. You know, putting in Hanover and pulling Helenihi worked out.
So, I think y'all can get an idea of what I think about replacing Landry with Helenihi, but you may be swaying me a little on the idea of pulling Landry. How about moving Mikie to left, J Mitch to CF and platoon RF and DH based on the L/R match up, at least until Jones comes back?

i am sort of making this up for the sake of conversation, but what if landry really does have a perception problem. it seems to be his problem in both fielding and hitting. maybe he does need lasik.
worked for dbowe i think
worked for jared mitchell too
