Actually, I'm not sure it's the mistakes as much as Van not "coaching them up". Every coach makes recruiting mistakes. Pokey did. Coach Gunter did. But, Van recruited players and then wouldn't even give them playing time. I think Hughes and Lutley are direct examples of that.

By the way, here's highlights from last nights game if you wanna see 'em.

I am rooting for NK, but jury is still out, the problem Van had was the biggest scandal in wb history when Saint Pokey to some of you was "messing" with some of her players and apparenlty a nmuber of other females around town. Van came in and with some help from Starkey and others saved what could have been a disaster. It was time for Van to go, but he saved us from true disaster...as for NK so far-she has talked a great game gotten people excited which is great, and for 975k gotten pregnant, lost to Tulane who we have only ever lost to 4 times and no matter WHO is on the court not beating etsu by 30+ is a joke- thier rpi is 277 and had we lost it would have been our worst loss (by far) in 15+ years!!! So far we have two very good wins and 6 solid wins, two bad losses, our rpi is 31, but we are a bubble team in a DOWN year in sec...I give her a B- so far, but do think she will do better, but time to walk the walk a bit..Vandy is WAY down this year we shud beat them Sunday or we are in real NCAA trouble at 4-4 in sec...

We never seem to beat Vandy. Even with Sylvia and Seimone, we had trouble beating them. But, yeah, it is a very, very important game.

Alum I appreciate your optimistic and dedicated support of our Lady Tigers. I have to disagree with you on this one though, Kenney is our best point guard now and we need her on the floor. BL came in last night and ran the point well but she in nearly as inconsistent as LB. I like the kid and think she has shown flashes of greatness but right now we need our floor general back. I think JK at the point and BL at the 2 guard could have potential.

I do agree that CJ has been our most consistent player all year even going back into last season some. I am also impressed with the development of CF and think the sky is the limit for her.

Our biggest enemies right now are ball handling and a weak offensive scheme (or lack there of). I know CNK likes to use an aggresive defense to force turnovers and generate offense but it's not working all that great for us right now. I would like to see a bit more of an offense by design. By far the amount of turnovers is absolutely pathetic and it's been a problem all year long not just since our guards went dwon. This MUST be corrected if they want to have any shot at making a run for the conference title.

I think we have a lot of the pieces in place with hopes of adding to it in the next few years. I'm anxious to see how things develop for CNK and our Lady Tigers.

No matter what the sport

Vandy has had some great teams. We did take a few games from them during the Golden Age of Lady Tiger BBall. To our advantage, hopefully, they seem to be in the process of rebuilding too.

I think Tulane is kinda the same as Vandy. They traditionally play us like it's their NC game every year especially when we travel to play them at home. They have had some quality teams there in last few years.

I would like to see our ladies play with a lot more intensity and mental toughness. We are going to get banged around without getting the calls. Instead of letting it get to them I would like to it motivate them to play even more physical. And of course take better care of the ball.

I agree with most of what you all have said. However, I disagree on Kenney. I think the problem with Lutley is NOT GETTING PLAYING TIME. IF she got as much time as Kenney, I think this season she would outplay her. The key is not having Hughes. She's our best option at pg............especially the way she was playing after the Christmas break. Kenney is a liability defensively and she's only shooting around 30%. She does still get around 3 assists per game though.

As for our early losses.............I can't be all that angry about those (Tulane, Northwestern, OSU). At that point, we had a new coach who was installing a new offensive philosophy.....and it showed. The turnovers were a problem all the way up until the Grambling game. Then you saw a marked improvement. Once Hughes went down though, you saw the turnovers jump back up. There is indeed a direct correlation there.

I think Nikki has done a fine job. Definitely better than Van. But it will take some time.............maybe even a year...........for the team to consistently play with the style she wants them to play. I'm patient. There's no doubt in my mind that the team will finish with a better record than last year's debacle. Winning at Vandy is going to be a tall order if we can't at least get kenney back so that we've got two guards who can handle the point. We'll see what Nikki can come up with. Normally, we hardly ever play well at Vandy.
