This among many other reasons is why you play a cupcake in the first game at home under the lights.

Better tell Ohio State, Notre Dame, Georgia, Oregon, Pitt, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Utah, Florida, Penn State, Purdue, TCU, Colorado, Nebraska, Northwestern, Illinois, Indiana, Clemson, and Ga Tech -- each of which played a non-cupcake Power 5 opponent in their first game.
I wonder how many muffed punts those teams had?
