Wow, your 3rd post, yet you don't know jack about Louisiana history. Go look up the phrase, La. Fighting Tigers in the Civil War era.

… our school name is Louisiana State University….

Actually we are Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College. But “LSUAMC” is a little big to put on the side of a football helmet. I’ll settle for LSU.

No.

But I would like to see our official name "Fightin' Tigers" used more.

Nothing wrong with it at all...I like that moniker.

when they refer to us as Bayou Bengals? What is the history behind this anyway?

are you serious? it may be the best discription of the connection between LSU, the people and the state it represents.
personally, I think LSU should dump that fricking goofy 'callin baton rouge' for Creedence Clearwater Reviaval's "Born on the Bayou." JMNSHO.

Oh slow onr, Google is your friend and you're sitting at your computer. But I will tell you this Louisiana has a very long tradition of producing WARRIORS. The nickname that you most probably have never heard about is "The Ole War School". Take a lok at the building names at LSU, then look up the people they are named after. That little walk through history will open your eyes a bit.
