I think some people are looking at the wrong things. I don't care what he's done in college, it's about what he COULD do at the next level.

Im not going to go out and say he will succeed at that level, but look at the tools he has and how they relate to the NBA game.

He has advanced post moves for a college player. He has led the SEC in scoring from a post position both this and last year. He can finish with both hands and has been consistent shooting from 15 feet. at 6'9" 260 he has a prototypical PF body type.

His main problems are due to double teaming, which won't happen at the next level, and fouling. I think in a less physical NBA style, he could be better staying out of foul trouble.

I don't think he is a starting PF right now, but to think he doesn't have some skills that are desirable to an NBA team is laughable. I don't necessarily thinks he makes it to the NBA, but I do not think people realize how few true post players there are in the college game. 1 on 1 JOB has solid offensive moves.

You must be joking?

Why do you think he is joking? He leads the team in turnovers, by far. He has proven that he is still learning how to deal with double teams. His defense is average. His free throws are less than average. He did nothing this year to improve his draft status besides getting more experience. He's playing with better players so his game should have improved but it hasn't.

Nevermind his vastly improved jumper and his improved (already great) arsenal of post moves. The turnovers have sucked for us, but how many times you think he'll be double or triple teamed at the next level?

SouthOfSouth always posts some good points. I agree with your post but you forgot to point out one major thing. Johnny O gets "down" a lot when things aren't going his way. His conditioning has gotten better every year but it is still lacking which might point to his work ethic. I realize if he does make a roster in the NBA that he will probably never be a starter so his conditioning doesn't have to be excellent but he has to be able to give that 5 to 15 minutes a game relief to a starter. He needs to google "Rosetta Stone" and go play overseas or he can hone his skills one more year and get in the record books at LSU for the top 10 scoring and rebounding players of all time.

How many double teams will he get in NBA? I'll answer for you, ZERO. They dont double team anyone in the NBA really. That's where almost all his turnovers come from.

His defense is average.

It will be fine in NBA. Less physical and he won't be playing 80% of minutes.

His free throws are less than average.

He's shooting 65% this year. While that isn't good, he has improved and will continue to.

He has completely invented his left handed hook. He has also shown he can be productive when one on one defense. UK (@home) was the last team to try and leave him single teamed - He scored 29.

He didn't get double teamed like this in the past. Ask any coach in the SEC if they want to face JOB. None will say yes.

I agree. Offense is not his problem. His post moves have improved but his passing has not. He does not have a great basketball IQ imho.

I'd love for him to come back. I still don't think he will make it in the NBA right now, but I do think his skillset is geared toward the NBA much better than college basketball.

I'd imagine he finds himself overseas next year. I don't think work ethic is a problem with Johnny and he is a very nice kid when you talk to him so I think he is fine there.

I agree that his on court demeanor can get poor at times when he struggles and that is something he needs to work on.

JOB has no chance in the NBA. There is nothing that he does on the court that is impressive.

Bad D, no jump shot, flat footed D, average rebounder, very poor FT shooter, most poorly conditioned player I have ever seen on an LSU court...

Nice troll. Who are you a fan of? It sure isn't LSU!
