I think we would've lost that game had Jimbo been calling the game. His dearth of offense at FL State against decent opponents speaks for itself. 3 points against Wake Forest are similar to the 3 points we got against Auburn in 2006 (with a little help from the refs), but nevertheless, we're just a better offense under Crowton.

I was pretty surprised to hear Chris Fowler comment on Jimbo's conservative play calling while OC at LSU . If I remember correctly, he said this BEFORE yesterday's game.

Crowton's O - 26 points in 1 game at Auburn
Jimbo's O - 19 in the prior 3 games at Auburn

True, but you'r kind of picking and choosing games there. Only the Auburn games count, and only if it's at Auburn? Plus, in 2001 and 2003 - Jimbo's best two offenses - we played (and beat) Auburn at home.

As I said the other day, my biggest fear going into the game was Crowton.
Crowton and Miles and his gigantic balls playing to win were the difference in a very hostile environment last night.

I think Jimbo did a decent job while at LSU. I got no complaints. But let's be honest, if not for our D in 03, we don't win the NC. It's hard to give Jimbo credit for that. It seemed like his offence never progressed from year to year. Play calling was always the same. And it appears to be falling the same way for him at FSU.

winning at Auburn is much more of an issue though, since the loser of that game has never won the West. I don't have a big problem with Jimbo, but I think Crowton is better at finding a way for an offense with weaknesses to have some success.

I sure did enjoy alot of wins while Jimbo was OC and I'm enjoying these with GC as all Tiger fans are, got no issue with Jimbo, wish him all the best at FSU, would be good to see them back as a national challenge

quote:I think this is very true about Jimbo. He was a really good OC as far as designing an offense and developing a QB, and his offenses usually worked very well. But when they didn't, he usually seemed completely incapable of adapting. The only positive difference he could have hoped for as our OC last night is that possibly he might have had Lee a little better prepared from the get go.
Jimbo. I also thought he was great at developing a QB, but he is way too conservative for my taste.
But that's all neither here nor there, because Jimbo's gone and left behind a slew of hardware for which I'm grateful, and now we have Crowton for which I am even more grateful.
