careful with the name calling. I seem to recall a fair amount of bitching and moaning on this board about some calls in a loss in College Station a couple months ago.
Are you seriously comparing the calls in the A&M football game to the Kentucky basketball game?

quote:...True story...went on vacation to Gatlinburg Tenn... I was wearing an LSU hat and when we reached the top of the sky lift , dude working behind the counter looks at me says “ LSU....I hate LSU”.... I told him awe c’mon man, you have the right to just hate them one time when they play Tennessee...he told me he was an SEC basketball official and he was having to miss the LSU-Tennessee game in football bcuz he had an SEC basketball convention to attend the same weekend in Atlanta.... said he works the lift during the off-season....this was years ago so I’m not relating to times of today but don’t think for one minute that some aren’t bias for some teams ...it happens...
Once I understood how long and hard referees work to rise to the level of SEC officials

NO ONE should want a game to end on a technicality like that, even if it's in our favor.
Never said anything of the sort.

And you're dead wrong, the backboard wasn't shaking and Mays' shot wasn't going in regardless.
The backboard was clearly shaking. We'll never know if Mays' shot would have been good without the shaking. You don't know how the ball would have come off the backboard in that case. Even if it doesn't find it's way through the basket, maybe it clears the cylinder completely in time for a clean tip in. Physics and all.

You've got to try to be intellectually honest - don't let the purple and gold goggles blind you.
The talking heads diminishing LSU's win at Rupp are being intellectually dishonest by not backing up the replay another 0.5 seconds and discussing the shake.
Personally, I think the no call was appropriate. It's pretty clear to me that the tip was not legal if you apply the letter of the law, but if that's how you want that final play to be called, you better look at the backboard shake first. Because the letter of the law says 2 points, game over.

Sounds vaguely familiar, don't you think?
