Jay Johnson finally showcasing LSU is the standard in college baseball

players and coaches are flocking to the program. it’s just getting started too

they were showing Strasburg highlights comparing Skenes to him and saying how Skenes was a 2nd rounder coming into this season. 2 things:
1. imagine if the transfer portal existed back then and Strasburg wanted to play on an actual good team. that’s basically our reality right now. Skenes, Tanks, Berry last year
2. Not to discredit Skenes, but one offseason with Wes Johnson turned him up to another level. looking like a top 2 pick right now

obviously we all want to see some hardware out of it but at minimum this program is set up to be exciting for the extended future under Jay Johnson

Wes Johnson is a golden hire. Then it's topped off with a Skenes signing. If LSU ever doesn't have a locked and loaded starting rotation you are going to see top level pitchers begging to come here. Skenes went from a 2-3 round pick to the top pitcher who may be taken in the draft. Who isn't going to want to come pitch for that?
