Mett certainly did read defenses better. You can nit pick all that you want with loaded examples but it won't change anything.

like stats

If not for two games with multiple picks, Mett had a TD-Int ratio that might have set LSU records last year.

Funny you should mention that:

JR had 6 of his 8 interceptions in 2 games (he suffered a concussion in the 1st half of Tenn and finished the game). He didn't throw an interception in 9 of his 13 games in 2006. Pretty impressive for not being able to read a defense

quote:

Mett was super clutch on third downs and that is huge.

LSU was one of the best at this in 2006 too...despite not having a Jeremy Hill

quote:

As for not being mobile, I did hear something about Mett playing hurt for most of the season which killed his scrambling ability. One of the reasons why I am a fan of his is that he was awesome at taking those little steps around the pocket to avoid the rush.

He improved from last year, but that is not a strength of his. It is widely considered to be his biggest weakness.

I am also pretty sure that the Tigers were favored to win it all while JR was at LSU. I am pretty sure that JR had a much better defense backing him up than Mett had last year. If Mett would have had that kind of defense then he shouldn't have lost more than one game.

LSU played arguably the toughest schedule in NCAA history in 2006. 4 top 8 teams on the road, the only team to ever do that. 2005 had Katrina where LSU went 11-1 in the regular season despite losing our bye week and playing 11 straight games without a bye.

He also had a much better running game at his back. This year's SEC was not very good IMO

Mett read defenses better than he did. I Also remember JR screwing things up every game and having to come back from behind too much.

You have a shitty memory and terribly misguided opinions.

all Mett did was pad his stats against terrible no name teams.

Well, that's also not true.

Like against Bama?

40/58 (69%) for 539 yards. 2 touchdowns, 0 interceptions in his 2 games against them

I like Mett a lot but I gotta give the edge to JR,

i was a kid when hodson played. herb tyler was a FR same yr as me so going with that year and after those two (Mett and JR) along with rohan are the best i've seen at LSU.

and rohan may be my favorite while jarvis landry has been my favorite receiver. but i'm an eric martin fan. i love hands over speed (no homo).
