I have to say, there has not been a single player in college basketball since CJ that had me saying OMG....over....and over....and over. I knew while watching CJ, I was witnessing something special. Something my father got to witness during his time at LSU watching Pistol, as he was the first to comment, "I haven't seen anyone like this since Pistol Pete."

I might have suffered through the worst six years in LSU Football history while at LSU('89-'95), but I saw some awesome basketball and players...CJ, Shaq.....oh can't forget "Clarence Ceeeeeeeaaaaaaaaasssar for three". What a name that kid had.

As great as CJ was, Pistol Pete was 10x the player and ball handlier.
they are a lot of people on Pete's bandwagon, and he was phenomenal, but Pistol shot the ball a helluva lot, in fact his dad designed the offense around him to the point were he was almost the only person shooting on the team sometimes, ballhandling wise nobody could touch him, but his shooting and NCAA scoring records are very misleading.

crossover by the old timers like Cousy you mean, different style, much different, not the break your ankles kinda of shite of today. Hardaway had a good game against LSU that tourney your correct, but I don't think his explosiveness matched CJ's overall, Hardaway got the better of him that particular game, he was hot and it was one of CJ's not so impressive performances. but in the NBA that guy was unreal shooting just like he did at LSU, and could jump out a gym for his size, he threw down a number of alley oops, Hardaway couldn't touch that.

Yes CJ might be a better shooter than Hardway. One of the area that game killed CJ was on defense. He was pretty frail and had problems in the NBA holding his man.

actually NW CJ was good at pickin guys pockets, he stole the ball a lot in the NBA, Tourette Syndrome along with seeking out Minister Farrakan was his undoing in the NBA.

I think they had another guy on the previous page tryin to holler at you- crowbar83 or somethin was his name.

Chris Jackson was much much better then Livingston. I was at LSU when Livingston was there.

No I mean Livingston the day he showed up at LSU. Jackson was much better. I worked in the PMAC, I got a very good look at Livingston.

Palm Beach your misunderstanding what I am sayin, the Randy Livingston that played in HS was much different from the one that showed up at LSU, I agree with you CJ was a better player IMO, but the Livingston that was in HS with no injuries was a spectacular player had he showed up at LSU without tearin up his knee, your opinion would probably be different then I'm sure.

What's funny is that on the cover for SI CJ has on Nike's. At the time, LSU was a Converse team.
There was a stink about that at the time if I remember correctly. Joe Dean was many things. A**h*le tops the list in my book.
