Instead of huge buyout, could Pelini be demoted and be forced to take less money?

It seems like a buyout of Pelini at this point may not be possible, but what if he was demoted to much lessor position? I know nothing about coaching contracts, but it seems like LSU needs to find a way to correct this situation. I know most contracts state a coach can only be fired if there is just cause, which I assume Pelini also has written into his contract. Does having the worst defense in the country not cause enough to be fired with no buyout? I know in the real world it is!

He can be demoted but he still gets his cash. Bad deal by Woodward.

I get the question and I get the frustration behind our suck arse defense. But between last night, this morning, and today - some of y'all are FREAKING THE frick OUT behind our defense. Is it that we had to sit through a weekend and watch everybody else? Seriously. What is it? What was the catalyst that sparked the massive fricking freak out session on this board lately?

The game that got me angry was watching the MSU game. Their offense looks like the worst offense I've seen this year. They are struggling to make a first down, but they put up over 600 yards against us and we made their QB look like a Heisman Trophy winner. How in the hell does that happen? It's called having a horrible defensive coordinator!
