This has nothing to do with this topic.

But Alabama and Oregon are 1/2

ND finished ahead of TAMU & UGA in the final AP Poll.

Incorrect, both of those games were lost when Chavis went into soft zone, no pressure D in pivotal drives. On Clemson's 4th and 16 why was Hopkins, who was ripping us up all game being guarded on the 2nd level by Eric Reid?

skip to :47 secs

Simon is 10 yds off the ball and backpedaling at the snap and Eugene is ~15 yds off the ball at snap.

What do those teams have to do with us?

If Michigan or Notre Dame cant go out and get a top coach, thats all on them.

Ucla and Miami arent on that level.

The real world? Hell none of us have control over shite so we are all technically speaking in fantasy land on here about fixing lsu and our bonehead coach

depends on if you're looking at points or yards. but I get what you're saying and agree. Chavis is solid. I don't worry about his D.

The days of me worrying about how many yards are put on our defense are behind me. I'm more worried about what teams do to us in the redzone and if we can hold them to 3 or give up 7

Of course not. There's a difference between what fans want to happen and what is possible in the realm of reality.

If LSU had an offense that was consistently in the top 40 I think people would be happy.

Mettenberger: 4*
Hill: 4*
Landry: 5*
Beckham: 4*
Faulk: 4*
Collins: 5*
Porter: 3*
Alexander: 4*
Turner: 4*
Copeland: 4*
Smith: 4*

maybe we can crack the top 60 this season with these bums

It's not even the rankings. Just plain watching this offense is infuriating. Everyone in the stadium knows what the next play is gonna be by the personnel brought in. If the offense was ranked 70 but was able to close teams out or pick up 2nd and 2 and 3rd and 2 then it would atleast be tolerable.

preaching to the choir man. All I meant was that our offense doesn't suck bc of a lack of talent. Its bc they aren't put in a position to succeed.

Ya know it's a fine line LSU has to walk .. between saying alright Bama is the better program we just have to do our best to try and compete with them and saying frick them we're going to work our asses off and when the clock starts we're going to kick their asses. Too far towards the former and you breed a mentality (among coaches, players, fans and media) that LSU isn't one of the big boys .. too far towards the latter and you lose sight of what makes a good football program - discipline, work ethic, etc.. and become too obsessed with emulating and beating (solely focused on beating) one team, which can lead to playing down to other opponents .. something Miles' teams do on a regular basis.

without question the talent is there.

The scheme just needs some pop to it that makes defenses guess on what's coming.

dude, you've said whats been on my mind. I think since 2007 we've put em on a pedestal. And they're in our domes. The fans, the players, the coaches.

can't we hire somebody from La Tech or Clemson or WVU or Baylor or Okie State? their offensive staffs always seem to have great schemes and game plans.

I agree with you that the offense has under achieved the past few years. I just don't buy into perceptions I buy into what I see. Miles was too stubborn to play JL over JJ in 11 and it ended up costing us in the biggest game. JL played magnificently in the first half of the season. This year play calling was improved, We threw the ball nearly 30 times a game and ran the ball as well as could hoped. If you don't attribute any deficiencies on O to the OL problems I don't know what else to say.

Starting LT, lost for the season early on
Starting RT, left team early on
Starting C, battling injury all year
Starting LG, battled injury all year

One player on the OL started every game and at one point had 3 freshman starting. (I guess Porter is technically a soph but he redshirted and then sat out last year due to transfer)

you're right. It still doesn't change the situational play calling issues. LSU was far too predictable. And we didn't open the offense up until Alabama (after we had already lost a game) and even then we still struggled with keeping teams on their heels. Remember what we were in 06 and 07? Teams didn't know what was coming? That's what we need back. Just from the personnel in the game I can usually guess what the next play will be

I don't know about you, but i like the "underdog" LSU mindset a lot better than the latter. I really miss the days when people thought they were superior to us and ended up getting punched in the jaw. I understand that with success your mindset must change. But, this LSU team has got to have a bit of an empty stomach when it comes to success.

On another note, I hope on the offensive side of the ball [specifically wideout].That it's an open contest among the prospects we have.
