I don't think losing Smart will hurt them that bad. It depends on who else leaves. My "sources" say that Cochran is going to UGA with Smart and call me crazy but I think losing Cochran will hurt a lot more than losing Smart.

Is your source saying Cochran is going as the head strength coach or is he getting a shot at a position coach or coordinator?

Minimal. It's about the Jimmy and Joes not so much X's and O's.

Saban is the Mind behind the Bama Defense.

Their Defense this year, reminds me a lot of our 2003 team.

2 Different DC, he is the constant value.

Generally Sab hires young coaches on the way up while, generally, Miles hires old washed up geezers, Crowton/Cameron, or pals. This hurts because coaches like Crowton/Cameron are not teachers and generally don't work as hard as young coaches who want to make a name for themselves.

Saban is smart enough to hire a good DC who knows what they are doing.

He will go hire Pruitt. Not much of a loss.

Not NEARLY as bad as he butt hurt when Saban goes to Indy or somewhere else in the NFL.

#1. doesn't hurt them at all. DC's who work under Saban are all overrated. Saban runs the defense not them. Put them out on their own and the suck.

It's going to be very similar to 2012.

We'll be at home, they'll have just lost a coordinator (or two), and a lot of starters (especially on defense).

Next year will be the year to get them.

Basically, the way things look now, there is no justification for us losing to them next year at home if there is any shred of pride left among this fanbase. If we lose to them, it should be categorically, inarguably, the nail in the coffin for Miles.

But I can hear the excuses now:
• Key injuries
• Harris' fault
• Steele's fault
• Cameron/OC's fault
• Ritter's fault
• Miles is a nice guy
• We're a young team
• Wait till next year
• Our university has budget issues

How can people not see that Saban is the common denominator with all these dominate defenses

dominate

It's amazing how many people can't spell this word correctly or use it in the right context.

1.

Every reel I see of the defense practicing I see Saban out there yelling at fools and getting kids lined up.

Every time I hear defensive players talk about what "someone showed them" it's about "Coach Saban." I distinctly remember one year when they had this badass MLB (may have been 2009) and the players being interviewed essentially said it was like having "Coach Saban on the field." That's anecdotal, but I don't hear them talking about Smart much.

He might go after Coach O for defensive coordinator....The melt would be epic. Doubt it though. Pruitt in all likelihood

I see it. I posted it up above. You are I could work under Saban and be highly sought after head coaches because our defenses were outstanding.

it will HURT him because, at a minimum, smart is a great recruiter and Georgia is his territory.

Man think about it:

Kiffin probably on way out (maybe pushed)
Smart Gone
Smart maybe taking some assistants
Steele already gone (i know just wanted another line)
Maybe if the right NFL team comes knocking, Saban could be like "you know this is a good time for bama to hit reset button, Peace out"

According to any Alabama fan he did nothing. Won't hurt them at all God I hope Florida dick slaps them, would an epic melt down. They love bashing other fan bases more so us and it is easily done when you are riding high on the mountain.

Just watch how fast they will melt if they lose that game. Hell watch how fast they will turn on Saban if he would happen to lose 2 or 3 games in one season.
