Our defense did not give up 50 points to either UGA or UF this past year. We had some pick 6's that are figured into those scores.

You seriously can't hold Pelini responsible for a defense he didn't coach.

but we are talkin about schemes and it was his scheme LSU was playin, you know the bend and bend, but don't break.

dude you can argue all you want about Pelini's defensive scheme over Saban's, I don't care because I don't hear you.

I never said it was better or I preferred his scheme over Saban's. I said it could be just as effective and the results indicate so.

You've basically admitted you don't care about points and results, only scheme. That's why you're not a football guy.

Saban's way isn't the only way. He's had plenty of defenses allow more than 200 points/season.

you keep talkin about points and results when in fact Pelini's defenses have shut down no one, no one worth anything anyway, his defense could not stop Kentucky's Woodson or Arkansas Dick at all, they basically took naps in the pocket.

We lost 6 games with Pelini coaching the defense. His first two defenses allowed fewer points than Saban's last two defenses at LSU.

The results are there.

That 2007 defense had issues. Nobody has refused to acknowledge that. We had injuries. I'm not convinced scheme was the problem. You can attack and Saban does that and he's had his arse burned plenty.

Saban's 2003 defense was a dominant defense so no way in hell any Pelini coached defense tops it, if you think that your crazy, as for the following year I would expect it to dropoff with wholesale changes everywhere and training new faces.

you wanna talk about '05, then why the hell didn't Pelini's D shutdown Tenn in the second half and why did they get blown out by Ga. in the SECCG? oh yeah, that's right, fatique.

you got a case in '06, but once again your talkin about a much different program than Saban inherited.

The 2003 defense allowed 11 points/game.

The 2006 defense allowed 12.6 points/game.

You think there is that much of a difference?

Who said I thought any of Pelini's defenses were better than the 2003 defense?

Excuses, excuses, excuses

Why didn't LSU stop Iowa and why'd we get assfricked by UGA in 2004?

If the scheme was beyond reproach, that wouldn't have happened.

That '06 and '05 defense allowed fewer points than the 2004 defense. How much do you think the program changed between 2004 and the Miles Era?

a lot, if you don't know that by now then your the one on the short end, and strangely you always insult me by sayin I'm not to bright or I don't know football, wtf makes you an expert? certainly not this argument.

Saban got the wheels turning in motion that put LSU in the position it is in today, with every top athlete in the country considering going there now. the early days were a struggle, but finally broke thru with 2003 and has been on a roll ever since then.

I didn't contradict myself.

Pelini's first two seasons combined allowed fewer points than Saban's last two seasons combined

2003 and 2004 combined points allowed: 359

2005 and 2006 combined points allowed: 349

quote:

thought they allowed fewer?

Combined, yes.

Tell me what changed in a year. What changed between 2004 and 2005 that would have given Pelini and Miles such a great advantage. You think the personnel changed that much in a year?
