I agree, most expected 2 or three losses this year, but when we actually lose, even a game that before the year every one thought we would lose, the rantards go crazy!!!!

There is no one simple answer to why we lost that game. First, if you watched our center and guards when they broke the huddle, you could see that UF was lined up in spots that they had not seen yet. In other words, for the first couple of games, UF did not show the defensive alignments that they unleashed against our OL. Hard to run the ball when you are trying to figure out who to block with the clock ticking. This is probably the biggest reason we could not run the ball early. After the first couple of series, we were so far behind/shellshocked, we never were unable to untrack our O gameplan. Great job by the UF defensive coaches and execution by the UF players. We should be able to fix this, though.
On D, their offense did sort of the same thing. They ran plays against us that they had not run before that AU and Appy State had run that had worked. That kept us offbalance. Then, they had some new middle veer that they ran with the TE coming down the line of scrimmage and blocking in the massive splits between the guard and center. It appeared that they had not run any of this before. They took advantage of our inexperienced players on D for sure. That coupled with the fact that they pretty much had us on our heels immediately on the scoreboard and without RJF at all and Alexander not at full health in there, our front push is a huge dropoff over the course of a game. Everyone is griping about the nonblitzing, but we did not the first series where McCray tipped the ball and they scored. At that point, it appeared that our D coordinators were less inclined to pull the trigger again and risk big plays. Tebow was on!!! You are seriously rolling the dice if you have a composed qb that will take a hit from the blitz and deliver a great ball downfield. I think they would have cranked it up more if we would ever have had a lead. Playing catch up changes the offensive and defensive gameplan severely during the game.
All those Tiger fans that want to jump ship after one loss need to go find a team like the Red Sox or something to follow to massage their clearly fragile personas. Sheesh. This is the fun part of watching college football. We are in the mix. Nothing is ever a given in the SEC. The UF fans on the 30 around me sure did not expect a W before the game and look how that turned out. Look at Miles record and performance after losses. That is all you need to know that this team will rebound. Yes, not sure about the co-coordinators, but history says he will fix it. He did not bring the D coordinator with him from OSU because what he liked to run would not have worked in the SEC. He also plucked another coordinator from another successful team (Oregon) because he knew what schemes to run in the SEC vs what worked in the Big 10. For some of you to say the end is near is silly.

you're right, we didn't watch the game and in fact we know absolutely nothing about football.... Please, all knowing one, help us understand....

So now you are a fortune teller?? No trust in the coach that won a NC to correct the mistakes??

You haven't been paying attention. There's a large number on here that thinks Les is a total buffoon and it's just now showing.

Bottom line, LSU shoould have dusted Auburn and Mississippi St
while i agree that they should've beaten Miss. State a whole lot more than they did...did you really expect to go INTO Auburn and Auburn not show up? Especially after getting beat by LSU in Tiger Stadium the way they loss. I fully expected the very best Auburn team to show up. There is not a team in the SEC that will lie down and be rolled over when a heated rival comes to town. Do you think Georgia and Alabama are expecting the LSU team that played in Florida to be playing when they come to town? Of course not. They know our tigers will bring our absolute best game. Just like the Gators brought the best game from their "mediocre" offense when the Tigers rolled into town.
I fully anticipated a 2 loss season this year. I thought we would lose to Auburn and Florida. Our defense was being pumped up this year but I thought we were young in the secondary and that would hurt us and it ended up hurting us in the Florida game. Should we have gotten more pressure from our D-line...sure...but Florida's O-Line stepped up when they had to. I give credit where credit is due. When we escaped Auburn with a win...i felt better about the season, but still had my doubts about the Florida game. but i didn't fully implode when we lost.

It's been 4 weeks since Auburn. Three since Moo U. If changes were coming, they would have been here by now. These changes are too deep to make in one week. I pray like hell the mistakes are corrected. But the problem is these are not "mistakes." Mistake is occasionally running the wrong route, slipping and falling. These are institutional issues that go down to the basics. It's going to take a while to get it straight. I am more than willing to wait until this saturday to see if there is improvement.
To those who think it was "just one loss" you are dead wrong. It's Miles unwavering loyalty to what is not working, and the unwillingness to make the changes that is worrisome. There are people still talking NC on here, they are clueless when it comes to football. I will be happy with improvement. W/L isn't important right now. If we finish with 7 wins, and are competitive in the losses I will be a happy man.
We will see. I support Les 100%, and will until I am positive he is too stubborn to make the changes. If what you saw the last three weeks doesn't alarm you, ......well, I will leave it right there.

what part DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND
It is not the damn loss...
it is the way in which we lost which affirms the trend in which our defense has been going.
...nothing more...nothing less.

what freaking trend? our defense isn't very good this year. it wasn't good in 2001 when we won the SEC either. u guys act like we'll be giving up 100 points a game by the end of the year.

Our D wasn't very good last year either. 29 points per game after the VT game.

open your eyes..........
look at the stats starting last year....
I know, there are some of you that cling to the concept that if the game is won, all else is OK.
it is not necessarily so.
If the components are not critiqued internally, they will deteriorate......
winning a game, does not mean the game was well played.

winning does not make everything well....
a) A COUPLE OF THOSE GAMES WE WERE VERY LUCKY TO WIN
B)WE GOT INTO THE NC GAME BY VIRTUE OF "LUCK"....BECAUSE OTHER TEAMS LOST.
THAT PATTERN CAN NOT BE COUNTED UPON TO REPEAT.
OOPS! ALL CAPS.

If the way this team is playing is acceptable to anyone, I highly question your fanhood. If public pressure is the only way Les will make the changes, by God let's be loud as hell. Dissenting opinions are not a lack of support. I want Miles here. But the way this team is playing is no where near acceptable. I don't give a damn about the losses. It's the product on the field that is extremely alarming.

you're right, 2 national championships, 3 SEC titles, 4 SEC west titles, and 4 BCS bowl wins in the last 7 years is an absolutely horrible direction ...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well let's be honest here, Miles didn't bring us all of that.
2 NC'S - Miles brought you 1
3 SECs - Miles brought you 1
4 West - Miles brought you 2
4 BCS - Miles brought you 2
Why have you been on Miles' arse so much??

last year doesn't mean CRAP for this year
they won't deteriote for Gawd's sake, they'll stay about the same in a worse case scenario. hopefully the players will learn and the coach's correct them. The defense will not give up 50 points again this year. my gawd.
