I would run a Double Barrel Shotgun formation with JJ and RS standing side by side in the shotgun (behind the guards basically) and the center can snap the ball to either one....Just my 2 cents

i still wanna see what RR can do with the ball. i know he can catch, but wasn't he an athlete coming out of HS

I know many people will disagree with me. I think we should let Crowton do what he wants to do. When I say this, I mean, let the spread OC run pass plays whenever he wants. Not step on his feet and force him to run "smash mouth" first and second down then tell him to get you a first down through the air on third down.
Ive been very critical of Crowton, but I mean come on. Recruit a Pac 10 OC and tell him to run a big 10 offense?

Miles won't let this happen. Hopefully its a new season. I think a true spread offense would be very effective

Well, lets hope that if he DOES decide to make his own offense again and not Crowtons, that he lets Crowton do it to his own methods. IE reverse and jet sweeps with RS at slot back. Also, I'd like to see someone quicker at HB than ford or ridley... wish Ware wasn't a true freshamn.

you think Ware is quicker than Ford?
Posted on 7/19/10 at 6:10 pm to ATLTiger
I think he's more shifty... maybe not 20 yard dash or pro agility quick but finding small holes in zone blocking schemes and snatching a couple yards... sure.
Posted on 7/19/10 at 6:12 pm to EricB
I could be very wrong obviously... and ford / ridley/ murphy are all great backs... i just think ware is the most natural zone blocking running back... if you're talking about running ISOs... then id say ridley

That's all Ford ran in high school, atleast that's all he ran against West Monroe.
As far as what I would do...Shep = Troy Edwards

The problem with ALL of these answers is the VAST majority of us on this board have NO clue whatsoever!
We are not qualified to answer but I'm sure you'll have 10 expert pages by the time it is done.
Basically on the rant the prevailing wisdom is if it worked once do it forever, until it doesn't work once then do it never.
Perfect example: Short side option = most famous run of 2007 and KWilliams career - OMG, do it again, do it again!
Now, OMG - NEVER do that!

Everyone knows the rant is the better coaching staff, so i'm curious to see what you would run
I have been waiting for a thread like this. I am not a coach and will never be at THAT level. But as a fan I get pissed when I see such LITTLE PASSION and SMACK-YOU_IN-THE MOUTH TYPE FOOTBALL that LSU could be with the Talent on this team. And This team has taken on the personality of its coach. PASSIVE.

GFY. No one has to be "qualified" to answer. Its just a question to see peoples different opinions. Who the frick are you

I think this whole expert thing is quite funny. Seeing as how coaching in division 1 football is all about who you know, not who you are. There's plenty of brilliant minds out their who just aren't "social" enough. Anyone on this board who has any friends in the coaching profession knows EXACTLY what im talking about.

I met BG at a coaches dinner. That guy is probably the most intense MF'er i have ever met. I can assure one thing, the WR's won't have an issue playing with passion.

You people do realize that i was being sarcastic about the "rant being better coaches", right

What about the REST of the team?????
Posted on 7/19/10 at 6:29 pm to TigahFan4Life
Surely JJ or JL is atleast equal to Rattay talent wise as well as Shep being better than Troy Edwards.
Posted on 7/19/10 at 6:30 pm to TigahFan4Life
yeah, which is why i replied that in all reality , many d1 coaches are in those positions b/c they knew someone. If i played at LSU , but was a moron, and would never be a great coach, i already have the in on being a grad assistant or getting a gig coaching for LES or someone else b/c les could just talk to them for me, perhaps one of his buddies he used to coach with thats now in a major school... thats how it happens..

Did you skip your anger management class?
I included myself (the vast majority of us)in the unqualified masses.
My point is that 'the prevailing wisdom is if it worked once do it forever, until it doesn't work once then do it never'
And that's what you get on this thread and others like it.
That's my opinion, am I not entitled to it?
