How often do other teams put a tackle at left guard for 2 practices then start him there?

I don’t recall that being something common that other teams do.

the Saints do it all the time with Andrus Peat, do you watch football at all outside of LSU?

Yeah, you gave me one example. Did he do it with 2 practices there?

I would say it would be much easier for a pro as well.

Adrian Magee is a redshirt sophmore who has experience playing both guard and tackle. He's a swingman if you will...the original plan before the start of the season was, who ever lost the battle for right tackle between him and Decaulus, would slide over to guard.

2 practices isn’t enough. OL needs to be a unit, not parts moving all over the place for 2 practices. If it were such a great thing, more teams would do it.

Eh. If you can play OT, you can play guard. Only reason most guards don’t make great tackles is most guards are not quick enough on their feet.

1) no shite, it’s not a great thing. Wasn’t some brilliant strategy. It was done out of necessity

2) shite like this happens WAY more than you think. You just don’t know about because you don’t follow other teams like you do LSU

3) Thread fricking sucks and needs to be put down and out of its misery

Hines would have performed better with the unit. Bottom line.

And just how the frick do you think you know this? Here's a clue: the coaches are the ones reviewing video and watching practice.

The lineman cross train at the different positions throughout camp, Cregg did that in the NFL and brought it here. The OL guys have talked about it in interviews. It's not an unusual practice for NFL or D1 schools. I promise you Magee didn't start learning the guard spot the week of the UF game.

And it'd be great to have more continuity but with injuries and suspensions we haven't been afforded that this year. Hines played at AU and Campbell played v Ole Miss, the coaches know what they have and if Magee is a better option
