and why is it so hard for a major program like us to just pay the frick up and get whoever we want. Im not saying Herman was the right guy but to lose him over $1M or something small when we have his best friend at D Coordinator is silly. Lane Kiffin Bolting Bama for FAU is ridiculous, sure he doesn't like Saban so he was gone either way, but is FAU really a more enticing position than LSU O-Coordinator/coach in waiting if Ed O messes up.

I'd love to know the numbers involved here

You don't think a head coach position is more enticing than an OC position? Jesus Christ.

not when its head coach of Florida Atlantic vs Offensive Coordinator at LSU or Bama....are you serious in any way? 90% of the country doesn't even know what that school is or where its located.

The deal is the Herman always wanted Texas. Was never coming here once strong was fired. Only used LSU as leverage.

; They were room-mates in college. No information has ever been brought forth they are besties.

Kiffin is an ego douche and always wanted to be a head coach again. Why come work for your old buddy that used to work for you when you can go work for a Florida school with the recruits and run a program on your own?

Multiple programs passed on Kiffin as head coach already. Why would he know he's head coach in waiting for a time 3 years in the future with Aranda on staff as a guy who could be deserving as head coach at same time?

I'd like to know some TAF numbers too....but apparently they don't mean shite because everybody is afraid of the Legislature saying no to funds for the school if private guys pay too much for a coach. Other states don't meddle like that but for some reason, these idiots like to screw around with a cash cow like LSU football.

Its more of if it didnt work out with herman his buyout would be another miles ordeal. Another 11 million to shite down the drain. You cant throw money at a lost cause and hope ppl arent upset. Lsu could have paid herm big money but he's not a for sure thing in winning championships yet.

Classified. Check Wikileaks though. I believe it's in one of Hillarys emails.

He wasn't but when you're talking a program like LSU $1M or even $2M whatever it took to close the deal was better than orgeron, it would have given us a new energy. The fans would have rallied, recruits would have been pumped to play in that offense, and for a couple million dollar difference im trying to figure out why we cant get it done when they're probably rolling in the dough in the TAF

Western Michigan's head coach left his head coaching job after taking them to a bowl game, to be a OC in the SEC.

You don't understand either situation. Herman's dream job was Texas so to stop that you would have had to top Texas bid by 3-5mil a year and even then I doubt he would have come.

Lane is taking a pay cut to get a head coaching job because he feels that is the best way to another big time head coach position. OC at LSU would have been a lateral move. Why do that?

I don't think either move would have been affected with more money on the table.
