As a rule, in life, when you do well or achieve greatness, or are the best at something in whatever context or for however long, it is better to move on from it quietly and if other people want to praise or honor it, it is up to them to do so in whatever way they see fit.

Demanding to be honored, does not diminish the accomplishment, but diminishes character, or, perhaps, exposes dimished character.
