If it's true that practices were being ran too strenuous causing fatigue and injuries I can see why the line and other key areas have struggled. Let's see what happens this week after a less physical week of practice.

Neither the o-line nor the receivers are very talented
This is the problem with losing. It brings out the worst in us.

however the narrative for so long has been that LSU had more talent than anyone
Is that the narrative? We have as much talent as anyone in our conference. But we don't have such an overwhelming talent advantage any longer over the traditionally middle pack teams that we can just overpower them (2011, for example).

both of those units are not as talented as most SEC schools.
Meh. We have 3 starting WRs that will play in the NFL. We have 3 starting OLinemen who will play in the NFL. So, I don't know how much talent we have to have to bring you back from the ledge.
Now - are we playing well? No. Can that be fixed? Yes. We are NOT "not scoring" and losing because of a lack of talent. It is vision, philosophy - something to do with executive decisions being made. I was a fan of the Miles' method. He either deviated from it too far to get back or it stopped working.
I'm optimistic.

It doesn't have anything to do with lack of talent. It's about discipline. LSU has never played with great discipline under Miles. The players loved him because he didn't hold them accountable. Not trying to bash the guy but that's the truth.
I hope you're not expecting superior discipline from an Orgeron coached team

Yeah all those first round draft picks weren't developed at all.
I'm sure if the NFL was allowed to draft these kids straight out of high school like the MLB, they would have gone in the first round as well.
Odell wasn't even in the Top 100 prospects. ESPN had him at 3*

Honest assessment of talent on offense
YawYaw likey
quote:
-The WRs have continually dropped balls and don't seem to very good at route running
Yaw yaw says they will be running laps all day if they can't do the one thing they suppose to do. I fully expect them to have the fear of wild boys put in them and will make more effort to catch the ball.
quote:
-The OL has been hit with injuries, but they are obviously not as good as we thought
Based off of some of the transparency now coming forward, they might have been exhausted prior to each game. You can't demand physicality all week and then expect a well oiled machine. The body needs time to recoup. I expect to see more effectiveness in a few weeks (not necessarily this week).
quote:
-Although Etling has played admirably at times, he (and Harris before) seem to be a mid-tier at best QB
Can't say this... about either. The whole offense has been broken and we have never put them in a situation that they felt comfortable in. I expect to see more production out of whoever takes the field.
quote:
-The RBs are still first class
Agreed!!
CEO is auditioning for a job somewhere. The more wins he gets, the more money and prestige that will translate into. Everyone knew that miles had this team underperforming. Might have loved the team a lot, but they've been sloppy for some time now. The little things affect the big things, and I see CEO working on the little things.
