For the last few years I've felt like having the week off before the Alabama game has caused our coaches and players to overthink the game and essentially get psyched out before even stepping on the field. I didn't even recognize the team that took the field Saturday night.

I do know that rest is needed at this point in the season for nagging injuries, etc. However, in the last few years, the extra time to prepare has been fruitless. All it's doing is screwing up the normal weekly schedule and giving the team more time to hear how good Alabama is and how bad they are going to beat us.

I'm sure that I'll get blasted for saying this, but frick it...bring on the down votes if you disagree.

The sad part is that we saw nothing different from the offense... E had two weeks to gameplan and showed nothing new.....

It certainly hasn't helped us yet against them, maybe take the break after game 6. This 2 week break we regressed embarrassingly.

I think you are making a good point. The 2 week break before Bama has done nothing to help our team or coaches to beat the Tide.

Alabama game has caused SE to get psyched out.

In 2 games and 4 weeks to prepare for Bama, he has laid an egg and brought a WTF offensive game plan.

2 games:
321 yards of offense and 0 points, That's impressive!

I feel like the 2 week break give the players too much time to dwell on how big of a game it is and it gets hyped up too much. They need to find a different spot for the bye because it obviously does not help

I somewhat agree, I'd rather schedule the bye for the week AFTER Bama and put a rent-a-win the week before them

Don't need to confuse anybody, but LSU has had the same week off for years. So, what's the difference? It never seems to hurt Bama.

I’d rather play them at the beginning of the season.

I think it’d be better for us to keep ours and for them to move theirs

In reality, it doesn’t matter what we do. The true problem is Saban always puts their bye week before us. He takes this game personal and uses 2 weeks to prepare. We have no chance as long as that is the case.

I thought the same thing following the game. Maybe take the bye week 3 weeks before Bama game. Might help, might not. But offensively can't be much worse that what we've displayed against the Tide.

I'm not trying to confuse anyone. It's simply an observation over the last few years. Probably most notably since the 2011 NC game. We've come out timid with a vanilla game plan.
