Eric Hill, on and off the field. I watched him toss of three "badass" bouncers around like rag dolls at the Bengal back in the day. He was one mean mother on the field too.
I was there. That dude was an animal!

Roy Winston's senior year was 1961. He was named AA guard on the 9 most recognized AA teams that year. If anyone cares to check, there is not any defensive positions mentioned. Players played both ways while Roy Winston was at LSU. I am sure he played both guard and linebacker while at LSU.

Toby Caston and Eric Hill could lay the wood.

sorry but Bill Elko was the Tigerland animal, though not a linebacker.

yeah right. you obviously never saw any of the guys that were previously mentioned. I would say Chad Jones hit as hard as landry. He was bigger and just as fast.

my questions is.....
how many of these guys could make the LSU team today?

KS was as good as we had last year and Brooks, Duhe, James and Hill all would have started over him. Brooks and Duhe both made the pro bowl. Duhe was defensive Rookie of the year with the dolphins. Hill played 11 seasons and had a solid career.
Brady James well - go look up that dude's stats.

Lot of Tiger greats getting their due mention in this thread. But I'll stick with my nominee - Jon Street.
If someone can find a better head-on tackle, i.e, collision than him vs Leon Perry (OM RB) in '76 I would like to see it.

Brady James was more of solid linebacker, like Kelvin Sheppard, still one of the greatest, if not the greatest, in LSU history. I'd have to say Eric HIll, maybe Ali Highsmith, he could pack a punch

AJ Duhe played DT @ LSU.
Arnsbarger moved him to LB @ the Dolphins

quote:True story..1988, freshmen come in with varsity. Young tight end from Texas lines up against Hill. Upper classmen tell him that he has to establish himself. After the snap he wakes up to find Hill standing over him worried if he was alive.(true story from the Victim). Eric Hill was always known as a class act.
go with Eric Hill.

Just to let you know, this is correct. He was on the White team at LSU. Those guys played both ways. He played OG and Linebacker while with the White team. The Go Team was the offensive team that Dietzel used to spark the offense. The Chinese Bandits from that era were the defensive specialist and only played defense. It was a great concept that allowed many talented players to get some reps at their specialties.
