Really ?
Yes really. I think Ed will fall into some success because of the guys around him (not like guys like Saban, Meyer, and Swinney who could swap assistants every few years and still not miss a beat), but he's not going to be elite at LSU.
Herman is a guy that's going to have Texas competing for championships in 2019 and beyond because he can take care of one side of the ball, coach QBs, and is an Xs and Os guy.
Herman took a team that had 3 straight losing seasons, and won 10 games in his second year, playing in the conference championship game, and beating the second best SEC team from last year in a New Year's 6 bowl game. Ed took a team that was 9-3 and would have been 10-3 in 2015 had they played their FCS opponent, and went 9-4 against the worst LSU schedule this decade, and 10-3 the next year losing 3 regular season games again, but technically getting them to 10 wins for the first time in 4 years. One guy reversed a plummet, the other has applied elbow grease and polished a team only slightly for now.
Texas will be the best team in the Big 12 by 2020 and going forward because they will actually have a defense paired with typically great big 12 offense like they did back in the days of Vince Young and Colt McCoy.
In 2019, I fully expect LSU to have their best record since 2011, but as far as beyond that, they'll go by way of run game and Aranda until the QB and OC situation prove that they can stand on their own.

Houston is in Texas right? Houston is still UT & A&M territory.

What does this have to do with anything. Herman was not coming here once Texas got involved. We might have been able to get him in Nov of 2015. Then he would have left for Texas at the end of 2017. Who cares what anyone else thinks about Orgeron as a coach. Frankly Herman kissing players coming off the bus is weird and disgusting In many respects it has been a self fulfilling prophecy. You guys and local media trashed him so much it is hard to over come. The fact remains he has produced as a top ten coach for the last three years. Yeah your point is that is what LSU is and should be. Reality is and was we were not. The talent level had declined. No QB. LSU has dropp d to,a second level program. Top 25 not Top 10. In 2.5 seasons LSU back to top ten. We still are second tier on the line of scrimmage unfortunately. Please continue trashing our coach and our program it is lazy and stale and not helpful

I'm a lifetime Longhorn fan and I don't know one Longhorn fan who has that attitude when playing LSU in any sport. If you've heard that kind of talk from any Longhorn fan then they are just plain idiots.
