You all have missed the ABSOLUTELY coolest thing to see...a must do.
About 3:30, the band streams out to the areas around the Greek Theater. On the field between the Greek Theater and the Pentagon Dorm, the Drum Corp performs for about 20 mins. Unbelievably cool, precise, talented, different.

Welcome to Baton Rouge.
Welcome to LSU
Welcome to Tiger Stadium
The first thing you need to do is wade through some of the crap posted on this board and ignore the idiots who couldn't offer a kind or positive comment if their lives depended on it.
LSU and Tiger stadium are absolutely incredible on Game Day and there is much to do. Come early but be prepared to take frequent breaks. You will need to walk a lot to take advantage of all that is offered.
Get to Mike's cage as early as possible to get a chance of seeing him in it before they load him up to take into the stadium.
Get as close as you can to the hill between the north end of the stadium and Mike's cage. That is where the band marches before going into the stadium.
If you identified yourself as an LSU or Auburn fan I missed it.
If Auburn be prepared to get TIGERBAITED. Take it and smile and you will be well treated. Otherwise duck.
Good luck and enjoy the experience.

Don't forget to stop by some of the tailgates for some hospitality. Get lot's of good stuff when you tell people this is you and your families first trip.
Everything else has been said.
And hey don't forget to come back and tell us about your experience! My first game was the Cigar game with Auburn.. something I'll never forget.

As for parking, and I'm wondering some others input on this...wouldn't parking at the lakes be a good idea? It's right off the edge of campus and no further of a walk than Herget. I am guessing that w/ 2 little tykes that they will be tired after the game. I parker at the lakes for the Bama game and had no problem leaving, no traffic or anything. Geaux see Mike at his cage, hopefully he leaves it on Saturday. Watch the band/ players walk down the hill. Check dandydon.com for the official times <---I highly recommend that. Have fun.

Wow! Thanks ALL for the great responses! So much good information. I've wanted to see an LSU game in Tiger Stadium for a VERY long time now and that time has now come. I'll certainly return here and share the experience.

Enjoy the experience. There is no place on earth like Tiger Stadium on a Saturday night!

You are in for a seriously loooong day with those young kids. I dont recommend it but to each his own.
my kid and i got there at 10 am for the ULL game, we knew no one tailgaiting, it was a hot long day, never again will i go that early, no public restrooms, none of the buildings on campus were open, im glad i went to the game, the experience was great, i just needed a little planning, we parked at the Levee lots along river road, quite a walk but not too bad, was an easy out route, good luck

with kids that young, parking and walking will be your biggest problem.....I would honestly consider trying to get a parking pass if you can swing it....I think there are still some available for alex box west...alex box concessions and bathrooms in alex box are open all day before the game....I'm just not sure you can get it delivered in time at this point, though...
also, frankly, this is not the best game to take small kids to....it will be crowded and rowdy in the game....be sure to get into the stadium early so you can stake out your seats and get all of the concessions/bathroom breaks out of the way....my experience with children that age is that they typically last to about half time and then want to go...
my best advice is to make the day as relaxed and fun for them as you can....they probably won't care for the game....bring a camera, even if it is one of the disposable type....
enjoy the trip!....

Two pieces of advice for people with kids that I've never seen on here:
1) Bring a small football and maybe a frisbee for them. They can toss them around and with the football they'll likely find other kids to toss the ball around with. Probably best to make it a cheap football just in case some smart kid decides to take off with it.
2) Bring a small blanket or even a sheet. Instant picnic. My wife and I have often put a blanket down on a little grassy area under an oak tree right outside the stadium. You can bing your own food/refreshments or if it comes down to it even use one of the vendors.
These two things should help to avoid child burnout (especially at ages 7 & 9 - that's not really young kids that are prone to that IMHO).
Oh, one more just for you - when the wife is not looking check out the great looking co-eds in their gold or purple dresses.

The suggestion to see Mike early is a good one. I think I would do that first since I don't know when they take Mike away. The children will love this so you don't take any chance of missing him. It is an awesome habitat.

The parking pass would be good. There are some still available but they are Will Call only and I won't have an opportunity to pick them up before gameday. Do you think it would be possible to pick them up on the day of the game or would that be ludicrous?
