Have you studied the time of possession stats from 2019?

I went back to after the first game this season to see what comments were made about brennan and what were the initial thoughts of him.

this thread was made after the miss st loss which was obviously brennans first game as a starter.

brennans issues

compare these observations to finleys first start against south carolina:

quote:

Long throwing motion
No confidence in reads - held the ball too long
Rattled by the pocket - even when it wasn't collapsing
Threw off his back foot
Poor footwork for throws
Didn't step into his throws
Needed to over twist his body to throw hard
Seemed rattled
Lack of foot speed

I feel completely swindled by people who said he had a strong arm. He underthrew almost every ball over 20 yards. Some were caught (but should have been intercepted). Some weren't.

quote:

Nervous as shite

quote:

He has an arm.
He’s just not confident in any throw

quote:

He couldn’t see open receivers. I’ve never seen anything like it.

quote:

All of this and I don’t see how the fake handoff is supposed to ever work if he never keeps it. That’s never going to fool anyone

quote:

He has none of the intangibles. Pocket presence, being able to read a defense, seeing/feeling pressure. Everything Burrow had, he doesn’t. On top of that, he’s not very athletic and doesn’t have a lot of confidence. His body language was awful today.

quote:

Looked like a freshman, not a 4th year guy, 2nd year in a system....

quote:

He was fidgety and uncomfortable, like he had the weight of the world on him. He was not mentally ready to be the man

quote:

Looked scared.

quote:

No clock in his head. Game moving to fast for him

quote:

On the replays from behind the OL you could see guys open on out/crossing routes, but he either did not see them or did not want to drive it downfield into a tight spot. Gotta play with confidence and let that ball fly. With that said as good as Marshall looked today he had two KEY drops. One in the 2d qtr when he was past the LB and DB which would have gone for BIG yards and the one at the end of the game inside the 5 yd line. Entire OFF has much work to do, but they can get better.

quote:

Now we know why he has was beaten out for the job twice. Props to him for sticking around and being loyal; you don’t see that often. However, I think O wanted to be loyal to him as well and reward him. You hate to cast judgment after one game, but this isn’t just COVID messing things up. You either have it at this point or you don’t. Trask at UF was similar in that he hasn’t started in years, but immediately you saw a mature QB who could make reads and had good footwork. Brennan doesn’t have either. If he struggles out the gate next game, I think we will see a QB swap. I also think Chase knew what he had this year and that played a huge part in choosing to opt out.

quote:

Not a leader.
No moxie.
No toughness.
Guys will not really behind him.
Soft.

quote:

Game is way too fast for him

quote:

"Running for his life " was mostly his doing. He left the pocket when there was no pressure and he held onto the ball too long most times.

10k on the Juggs did not happen as evidenced by 13 dropped balls from the WR. Get back to Juggs and Crazy drills.
