What's the earliest court day assuming that the DA accepts the charges and they don't plead down? How long does the DA have to accept these charges?

I was thinking the same thing??? Is there even a remote possibility that this could be resolved and the JJ's reinstated with some season left????

Even if he is reinstated I don't see him starting under any circumstances. I think mett will jump him.

They'll probably plea down to simple battery, pay a fine, and do some community service. Theoretically this could be done within a few weeks. If/when Les reinstates them after that is anyone's guess.

JJ has played his last game at LSU. Senior season down the drain and deserved for not being a leader and being involved in such a stupid fight. He needs to learn his lesson the hard way.

It was stated on another thread that Moore said he's sending it to the Grand Jury and it would be several weeks. Assuming an indictment, a trial, if it occurred, would likely be after the first of the year at the earliest.

I've heard arraignment is the next step and that is typically a couple months away. Then typically the plea bargaining stage before trial. I don't see JJ stepping on the field this year.

If the case were to go through trial on a second degree battery charge, I would anticipate at least a year. Second degree battery is a serious charge. JJ's attorneys are going to take their time. I believe there would be much more discovery involved than in a typical "bar fight" case; evidentiary issues; expert/witness interviews; jury selection; the usual legal delays, continuances; etc. And, that is not considering appeals.

Also, one consideration whether or not to accept a plea is the fact that a civil case is likely to be filed against JJ. If JJ accepts a plea (even to a lesser charge), it could affect his civil defense.
