Doubtful this doc changes anything

When LSU suspended Javonte Smart before the SEC tournament last March, they went through a whole interview/fact-finding process with him and his family before they re-instated him. That process involved LSU officials, LSU compliance people (who are notoriously by-the-book) as well as the NCAA. Same thing with Will Wade. He was out for more than a month before they finally finished their investigation and re-instated him in April.
Now we all know the “damn strong offer” quote was well publicized and talked about during that time period. No doubt it was a major point of emphasis during LSU and the NCAA’s questioning of Wade. So hearing it on the HBO show is absolutely nothing new. Yes, it’s actual audio now instead of a written transcript, but the information is exactly the same. So whatever explanation was sufficient enough to satisfy LSU and the NCAA last year would still apply today.
The ONLY possible caveat I can think of is if the credibility and/or accuracy of the transcript was in question during the investigation and - absent a money trail - wasn’t enough to go by. Then, perhaps, hearing the actual audio could change things. But I highly doubt that was the reason for the re-instatement.

The HBO doc is about as legitimate and reliable as Finding Bigfoot on Animal Planet. Just a bunch of crazies out hollering in the woods, pretending to call Bigfoot and then say, "There he is! He's responding!" when another crew member goes out and bangs on a tree with a stick.
