Ali Highsmith & Trev Faulk wore it prior. So it's not just for CB's.

Boy a lot of Rantards at their best once again in this thread
Looks like as of right now no one is wearing #7. Sure that will change by the time the season rolls around.

I agree for the most part...but some recent and upcoming recruits have latched on the #7 fame/infamy (for lack of a better description) in large part to the on-field success of PP and TM. Like it or not, the #7 *does* mean something to them.
This.
Why did Mark Ingram switch to #22? Why did PP7 wear #21 in the NFL? Landry chose #80 for a reason. Players wear to pay homage and use that for motivation and swagger on the field. Pass on tradition of the greatest.
The video above of Hootie is the perfect example.

Hootie Jones '14 Safety will be the next great to wear #7 at LSU

It's odd for a single digit number to go unused, happened because of Mathieu with #7 last year and with #3 Daryl Johnson not qualifying 2003. Amp Hill left before the 2005 season leaving #1 open. Not sure why nobody snagged it yet this year.

That shows respect. Some db has to earn it

I'll be wearing it. I'll be in the stands on the LSU side, in the bleachers, getting hammered

George wanted to name his future child Seven, but mentioned the idea to Susan's cousin who hijacked the name and then proceeded to go into labor and George followed them to the hospital protesting. That crazy Costanza.
