I can tryto look them up. They were on ESPN Radio at 6:05pm yesterday while I was making my way home from Soccer to watch the Saints. There were 3-4 of them; one had a New York accent.
I found it interesting that the one thing that could possibly fall under the category of "dirty" was the DJ McCarthy thing, and they don't mention that. My take is:
DJ McCarthy - That was bad, but the staff caught it, fired the coach who was in violation, the player was gone without ever playing a down, and LSU self-reported. It resulted in sanctions as a "Major" violation, but the program handled about as well as they could have.
Slick Willie Lyles - They paid the posted rate for materials on Mett and got what they wanted. The "material of little or no value" that ESPN made a big deal about was a non-issue. It's like buying one of those Ronco products where they throw in all of the extra crap for free; you can pitch in the trash if you don't want it.
Shep issue #1 - He lived with his girlfriend and didn't pay his share of the rent. Big deal. He paid it back and we're good.
Shep issue #2 - He discussed the NCAA investigation on Lyles with another player. The other player was his cousin. Was it a violation? Yes. It was not what I would consider "dirty", and it certainly didn't come from the athletic department. They suspended the player in question.
The Fight - It was a bar fight. I'm sure the athletic department planned it (yes, I'm being sarcastic). Two players were charged, both are suspended. If guilty, they should do jail time.
While alot of bad shite has happened, it is not the same as paying $25k to a "recruiting service" when the posted rate is $6k. It isn't the same as the Miami situation. It isn;t like some of the other programs who have recently had similar stuff crop up and had knowledge of it but didn't report it to the NCAA. LSU is not a "dirty" program.
