Has drake davis even had a catch for us yet

Yes, 3 for 134 yards and 2 TDs. More than Chark had in his first two years.

Like I said, Davis is another raw explosive talent that needs the coaching. He can be a legit first rounder with a huge season next year.

So you are on the clock and need a WR to play all spots. Who do you draft if both on the board? Quinn or Chark? And your job depends on you making the right choice.
If he has to play all spots, Quinn. I don't believe Quinn can be a WR one early (maybe he can develop into one), but he will be a solid #2 and an excellent just straight up slot guy. He's just more versatile as a WR.

Which do you think will be drafted first this year?
Chark obviously. For one he has the size and speed that everybody covets in a WR. Two, he's made big impacts twice now vs top competition outside of his college team. He's David Johnson-ing his way up draft boards.

All that text made the point of what I'm saying.
Beckham and Landry didn't come in NFL material in 2011, impressed very few people early, and got better with coaching as you mentioned 22 games into college careers.
Your support is greatly appreciated.

I'm agreeing with you and disagreeing.

Nobody said anything, or it had to be so few that I didn't see or hear, about too many WR coaches or bad WR coaching (the quote you originally responded to). Gonzales was here 2010 to 2011 and Henry was here for 3 years. Gonzales coached Florida's reign, and Henry had record holders at McNeese and then with the Raiders as a TE coach. His TE led the team in receiving 3 straight years.

Beckham was already making waves in the 2011 season (remember the Kentucky TD). He had 41 receptions as a true freshman. When was the last time that happened at LSU? LSU only runs a two WR set (yes, ancient), and when the other was a 5 star WR that was a seasoned junior, Landry didn't have much chance to get on the field. He did destroy a few people on special teams though. Plus you're talking Shepard in his 3rd year and Peterson at TE. Want me to add more? Well we only threw the ball 20 times per game.

No people were impressed with both. Like I said the inconsistent hands was the only thing really brought up. Landry was already making great catches in early 2012, and Beckham was easily on his way to a better season than his previous even before the bye week.

But as a whole, they were thought to be amazing by the end of their second year, what you would typically expect for any 4 star or better recruit. If you find my thread off-season before 2013, I predicted them to be the best WR duo in the SEC, if not the country.

I don't know of many who expect a freshman WR to blow up, especially at LSU.

I recall a lot of moaning and groaning about WRs not giving Mett a lot of help, and it was true the routes weren't as clean and there were quite a few drops.
I also posted in their defense that Boone and Wright should've been the leaders and not the youngsters fault being relied on, it would come.

All this goes back to another post about why didn't a much rawer Chark play prior to Jr year, "look he ran a 4;34, stupid staff wasted him!!!".

Well, two of those losses are Les Miles's fault because the team coach O inherited from Les Miles had a severe lack of depth in the defensive and offensive trenches. So since O didn't create that problem, but inherited that problem from his predecessor, you can't blame him for something he didn't do.

Right, it was LM who caused about a hundred linemen to transfer out when O took over...

quote:

with this highly underrated recruiting class that you Einstein's all trashed. As his defensive line class is rated third best in the country and his offensive line class was rated number nine.

Highly underrated is very subjective and it remains to be seen how good this class will actually be. However, on paper it's the lowest ranked class in over a decade. That doesn't look too good for a guy whose bread and butter was supposed to be recruiting. As for the O and D line rankings.. You do realize there's more positions in football than the lines, right? That part is important, but how did the skill position players stack up? Georgia seemed to do a good job of bringing in a good mixture of both...

Furthermore, that fourth loss in the bowl game was a fluke loss. Everyone who watched that game could clearly see that LSU was the better team on the field in that game.

I agree... LSU was clearly the better team. ND clearly had the much better coach. That game was a clinic and should serve as an example of the impact of bad coaching. LSU had much more talent than that ND team, and what did the score board say at the end of the game?

quote:

it was a lack of depth in the defensive and the offensive trenches caused by O's predecessor Les Miles that cost us at least two of those losses last season.

Again, LSU had plenty of O and D linemen when O got here. He managed to run a ton of them off. Nobody to blame for that except your boy.

Spaced Clownboy assured a top ten class prior to NSD, then changed his tune to "needs addressed, had to fill holes Miles left, rabble, rabble".
It's pathetic.
