Why was Lee benched for Jefferson?
Because he looked like a lost puppy in Tuscaloosa.

Sorry that I make it exciting here. Next time I'll write a scholarly essay in MLA format.

But was he a better QB than Jefferson?

Beer is terrible and you should feel bad for bringing it up in a football discussion.

Not in that game he certainly wasn't. That's why he was benched.
Different discussion altogether about why he stayed benched.

Ok, now I'm really done

He was still benched for the rest of the season basically in favor of Jefferson. I'm trying to use a relatable example for why QBs get benched. Just because Lee got benched it didn't mean he was a bad QB (relative to what we had on roster... sorry Mett)
Go crack a cold one when you can and try to get the image of Etling starting in 2016 and going undefeated out of your mind

I don't know why he was benched. Watching him against Notre Dame it looks like their run game is below average and their defense is bad.
But, i have not watched him against anyone else. He could have been garbage against the other 2 or 3 games he played lol. I will definitively say he is better than Jennings haha

You're really dumb, huh? I didn't know that Etling had Leonard Fournette, Malachi Dupre, Trey Quinn, Travin Dural, La'El Collins, etc all with him.
Etling was 2-11 in his 13starts, and his 2 wins came against Western Michigan and Southern Illinois. He lost to Northern Illinois, Central Michigan, an Illinois team that went 4-8, and an Indiana team that went 5-7. And he was at PURDUE and couldnt beat fricking Northern Illinois... you think that Central Michigan and Northern Illinois had more talent than Purdue? Wow.
quote:What.The.frick. QBs are judged on what they do in the passing game. How does the success or failures in the passing game not prove anything on the QB?
YPA is an outcome of having success in the passing game. It doesn't prove anything on the QB alone.
quote:
If you think a QB should be judged on YPA, you should stop looking at QB statistics.
Holy frick youre a retard and clearly did not even look at those links.. Don Coryell is 1 of the best offensive minds ever and he used to always say that YPA is the single most important indicator of success in football... Bud Goode is considered the Godfather of Football statistics, he created 151 statistical categories, and he was asked what the most important stat for a QB to be rated on and he said "Yards per pass attempt followed by INT%". The journalist who asked him that question then calculated every football game from 1958-1992. And what stat correlated the best with winning? Yards per pass attempt. Over the last 2 decades, the teams that won the Y/A battle won the game 80% Which was 2nd? INT %.
Clearly Don Coryell and Bud Goode dont know anything about football or how to judge a QB...The fact that you think that Y/A doesnt prove anything about a QB is laughable and shows just how ignorant you are.
