Explanation please.
Bowe was a very physical receiver who was green coming into LSU because he only played two years of football before coming to BR. He caught some spectacular balls his Soph. and Jr. season, but dropped a lot also. He blew up his Sr season, but never seemed to be polished the way that Byrd is. Byrd catches everything, and I mean everything. He just lacks the size and physicallity that Bowe had, but does have more speed than Bowe. I project Byrd this year at a 10.8 where as Bowe was a 10.6. Really splitting of hairs, I just think Byrd is a better "catcher" of the football.

Better catcher but not a better complete WR

I think they are diffrent WR's. Bowe is like T.O. and Byrd is like Steve Smith. I only give Byrd the slight edge due to the fact that he hasn't (knocking on wood) ever had a case of the droppsies like Bowe did for a while. Dude sweats stick-um or something.

Anyone else think that he can be every bit as good as D. Bowe this year?
i think he should be compared to buster davis, personally. much more similar playing styles

IMHO I think Byrd is a better pure receiver than Bowe
how?
bowe was a great route runner
d byrd is suspect as a route runner as of the end of 2007
d byrd's main route is still the go route, and he can also run a slant. that's about it
bowe could do it all
both drop passes

in the beginning/middle of 2007 byrd dropped balls

i think he can be just as productive.. but i dont know about a comparison to the player bowe was.. byrds not as physical but has more moves than bowe did.. **he juked the crap out of our starting secondary in the spring game

whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?
his "move" is being really fricking fast and blowing by guys. bowe was literally a man-child out there by his JR year

Bowe is the best WR to ever come to LSU "after lasik" He will be an NFL superstar. He is like TO without the mouth.
Byrd has special speed and hands but is not as physical as Lafell or Doucet.

I wouldn't call Lafell physical. More so than Byrd, but not your Bowe/M. Clayton type physical receiver.

1 juke doesn't mean he has moves when he has shown the ability to run 2 routes in real games
bowe juked guys at will his final 2 years

slow pro please explain where all these byrd dropped passes are.. I know he had the one against kentucky that went under replay, but that was sent into the SEC and they overturned it and gave him a catch for it. So please explain to me where you saw him drop alot of balle? dont worry i'll wait..

pretty sure he had at least one against AU and UF also
he also doesn't really catch the ball cleanly unless its one of those lofted passes on his go routes
but his route-running is a much bigger question than his hands
and route-running was NEVER a question with bowe. that's why i find it funny that people think byrd is more well-rounded because he's a much more limited WR than bowe was

Forget about the one handed bullet he caught from a former LSU tiger quarterback in the SEC championship game?

he's compared to bowe
bowe has a laundry list of amazing catches
nobody ever worried about bowe making those catches
