That's true. Also helps when you have a once every 25 years kind of DT in Haloti Ngata to help out on the other side of the ball too. Helps take that pressure off the offense. It just frustrates me knowing how GC almost killed Dennis Dixon's career in '06 then Chip came in and DD did a full 180 and may very well have been the biggest impact player in 2007 while healthy.

Yep....our defense in 07 was no joke. He was lucky.

Yeah the last defense I'd want to go against that year was LSU's. That was a crazy good defense with Dorsey anchoring the middle. I don't know though Dixon was such a magician when it came to the zone read and Jonathan Stewart was (and still is) a brick shithouse, not to mention our OL was pretty good that year (they were better in '08 though). Crowton vs. Allowalotti that year would have been a hell of a match up

Yes to all three questions. This is partly why Crowton sucked so badly. A good OC will adjust his scheme to a player's strength, Crowton tried to force a square peg in a round hole. He forced the scheme on everyone without adjusting anything.
