You happy with the play on the field, despite the talent Choctaw? I think another 4 loss season saves Miles job but would you be happy with it? I hope LSU wins the NC this year but you honestly feel that LSU will win the SEC West this season?

Never said i was happy with the play on the field, but i understand that the HC is not to blame for everything. If the o-line plays better last year we probably only lose two games....maybe one. Thats how close it was. Better o-line play this year means better running game, better passing game, and better offense. I am concerned about Crowton though, hopefully he gets back to his '07 ways. The defense played great last year and should be better with another year under Chavis.

I've said before...7 wins or less and its time to go shopping for a new HC....but some on here act as though we've gone 6-6 the last two years.

And as far as the talent thing goes....just because Rivals has a kid ranked high doesn't mean he's going to come in and light it up. AND DEFINITELY DOESN'T MEAN HE SHOULD START. Take Julio Jones for example...not exactly living up to expectations. Some kids just don't pan out no matter how great of a coach he's got. Like the old saying goes..."You can lead a horse to water....."

And yes...i do think LSU wins the West this year. I know its a hard concept for some on here to grasp but it is possible for LSU to improve from season to season.

you'd be ok w/ another 8 win season?

b/c of how quickly LSU went from challenging for championships to second tier status. If '10 was looking like a year in which LSU would make a run at a NC, the vibe would be a lot more positive. As it is, there's more ?'s now than any team in Miles' tenure.

hasn't happened a whole lot the last two

Buck has to stop somewhere and you folks should understand why there is going to be criticism of the HC.

By the same token, LSU was inches and a couple of plays from losing to some really crappy teams. Not to mention Miles said it was his best O line ever.

I disagree. 7 wins buys Les Miles another year. Peoples expectations are not as high as yours are anymore.

LSU has the talent to do this, but it is not going to happen. Your faith in the staff is much higher than most people who watch football, and that is not just LSU fans. Unless there has been a total change in philosophy on many levels, not gonna happen. I will be happy beating everyone but Bama this year.

It was 2nd in the west, 3nd in the SEC, much better than 7th is the SEC as we were in 08, and same position we finish in 04.

Neither elite nor great, but good and a step in the right direction. imo

I understand criticism...where and when its due. The blind criticism without any anknowledgement (and downright dismissal) of his accomplishments is what i don't understand.

Better o-line play and those close wins arent so close anymore IMO. And i think that was just coach speak but im sure he now regrets saying it.

I have faith because they've been there before, done it before, and won it all. Lee and Jefferson were technically 3rd and 4th stringers in '08 that had to come in due to you-know-who and Hatch getting hurt.

Well i'll support him as long as he's wearing purple and gold because i don't have a red phone in my office with a direct line to the AD and the power to hire and fire...even if i think he should be let go at some point. Just like i supported Archer, Hallman, Dinardo, and Saban....as hard as it was to do at times.

Choctaw, I SUPPORT Les Miles 100%. Never have said to fire the guy. I have just lost faith based on what I have seen on the field the last two years. Lack of faith doesn't equal non support.

Um. I don't think so. My memory chip has a couple of gaps in it but I believe that last year was the first time Texass beat Zero U in a while.

More than a couple gaps. Mack beat OU 16-13 in 2009, 45-35 in 2008, 28-10 in 2006, 45-12 in 2005.

I know...im not singling you out. Just talking about others here. I know the difference between a "negatiger" and a concerned fan. And im not saying i don't have my concerns...the UNC game makes me nervous as hell....i guess im just overly optimistic in nature.

You see the heat Miles get for his accomplishments after two less-than-stellar years? Bring in somebody else that can't put up a 10-win season immediately like Miles did and he'll be crucified.

Doubtful. When we finally do get rid of Les Miles, his successor will be given a reasonable time to clean up the mess. Nobody will expect a coach to turn a mediocre program into a national title contender overnight.

laughable to suggest that LSU is currently a mediocre level program. Also laughable to suggest that Rantards wouldn't expect a new coach to turn LSU into a national contender overnight.

Stevo, you're expecting people to be realistic and reasonable. How dare you do that.

In all honesty, the love affair with how Saban took us from shambles of a program to the promised land is a little overblown.

LSU was extremely talented in DiNardo's time here and in both his bad seasons. Bad coaching/playcalling and losing the players led to the collapse that was those two seasons.

People forget what happened in 1999 after Dinardo was let go. We beat the living shite out of a pretty damn good Arkansas team.

This team isn't mediocre now. It's just not top tier anymore. Top talent is there at MOST positions, but not all, and the development and play calling has been an issue.

Is Les the man for the job? IMO no, but that doesn't mean he's brought us to collapse. The player pieces are still there. The coaches just need to step up.

Tell you what, Man, you post your opinion and I will post mine. If you don't like my opinion...tough.

Now, go take a chill pill or a nap and come back when you can play nicely with others.

I think LSU handles UNC in a close game, its the SEC west competitors that worry me. Losing to UNC would not be the end of the world Losing to Ole Miss and Auburn would be for the season.

Les Miles and staff don't have to keep up with Mac Brown, Bob Stoops and Jim Tressell, they have to keep up with Chizick, Saban and Nutt however.

I would keep him in the top 10 at least. He can be smart, just in some cases needs to make better descisions in play-calling. Put the right people in the right places.

So let me get this straight - Saban-coached LSU players are not/were not full-time human beings? Is that what you're suggesting?

What was our consensus preseason ranking going into 2004? Try 3 or 4. Everyone must have thought we were loaded for 2004, but we got coached down to 4th in the SEC and 16 in the polls.

Good thing Les took over and coached up that loaded 2005 team which was something Saban had failed to do in 2004.

You are so easy, nuts2bash LSU.
