Coach O, Simplify the Defense.....

Just like last year!
Fool me twice, shame on me.
Looks like the Defense needs to START with a "simplified" scheme day ONE and add to it as they are able to execute it further. Is this possible!!! Not 3 weeks later. Big lack of what the frick is going on between O and and Bo during preseason prep!
I suppose that these scrimmages were so generic that the secondary wasn't required to process what they could potentially face. Brady's loss was as big as it gets. To say that the offense would stay the same was another smoke signal.

Or they were fooled by bad oline play, leading them to believe they were really good on D

Did you watch the offense early in the Miss St game? They were like a cat on a hot tin roof. Obviously, the defense looked good against an offense that was all over the place. On that note, we didn't simplify the offense any to the start the season, looked bad, but have progressed. The defense, on the other hand, is still trying to put a square peg into a round hole.

Yup, at least we've seen progression with the offense. They aren't as good as last year of course, but they're a good offense overall.
Same can't be said for the D unfortunately

wrong. Need to drill down more on assignments and who does what in situations. Simplicity is opposite of the problem.

Good point because it defines perfectly what this post describes. Same thing happened last year. A 1 star db that understands the scheme is more useful than a 5 star that's totally confused wondering who has who?
