More Black on Lee:

quote:

“He’s a great quarterback, and if he gets the chance to play, he’s going to show that,” Black said. “He has unbelievable mechanics and knows what he’s doing. He just made a few mistakes here and there, and we didn’t make it any easier on him. If we gave up a pressure or a receiver didn’t cur right, little things really affected every play. A lot of people looking in thought it was all on him, but it wasn’t.

“I’m glad he stayed, because we really do need him.”

and.... go! 20 pages!

Hmmm, now THAT is interesting.

There are several different ways to interpret this, but being the optimist, I'm just going to assume that JL has been working on his mechanics all year long.

his mechanics never seemed to be an issue to me. using said mechanics wisely on a consistent basis was. he'll be ok though.

if you read my responses about JL I admit he played bad, I have said many times he needs to work on decision making, that his INT's cost us games, that he throws off back foot.

When I respond to JL it is usually when people put all of the blame for last season on him.

He was not responsible for the 5 games we lost. He played a part in them but was not the sole reason we lost.

I could have put
"What if we didn't have 7 Pick 6"
"What if we didn't throw 16 Picks"

He was a Redshirt Freshmen starting so I guess I expected alot of INTS. Not many freshmen perform well in SEC, Erik Ainge and Jay Cutler are really are only 2 to throw double digit touchdowns and less than 10 INT.

I did single out RP because had that situation not happen. JL does not see field last year, neither does JJ but thats a different discussion.
I have said had RP not been kicked off team we win 10 games.

So now you are making transparent excuses for your obsessive apologia of all things JL. Considering your MO it is predictable.

Nevertheless, you and BT have been on the Rant every day for months labeling everyone who said that JJ should start over JL as a JL basher, while both you guys at the same time bashed JJ.

quote:

I think if you interchange JJ/JL last year we are still a 8 win team with a Freshmen at QB.

However, at the end of your post and keeping with your MO you just couldn’t help sneaking in another one of your famous absurdities, by insinuating that JJ would have stunk it up as bad last season as JL.

If what you claim above is true, then let’s examine those losses that JL played in a little more closely.

-Against Florida, JL threw 2 interceptions and 1 of them was a pick six.
-Against Georgia, JL threw 3 interceptions and 2 of them were pick sixes.
-Against Alabama, JL threw 4 interceptions and 1 of them was a pick six and another one was almost a pick six.
-Against Ole Miss, in less than a full game, JL threw 1 interception and it was a pick six.

Thus, your mind boggling attempt to morally equate the two quarterbacks as being equal like the obsessed JL apologists you are miserably fails under close scrutiny once again. How pathetic. Nice try though.

so that quote by Miles means that JL has beaten out JJ? I think you have reading comprehension issues

How in the world did you come to that conclusion? I replied to a poster that said JL "had his chance" by quoting the coach who said he will see the field. Where did I say who would be the starter?

Like I said we are still 8-5 with JJ at QB more than likely...

In other words, you are claiming that JJ isn’t a much better quarterback than JL is and would have thrown as many interceptions and pick sixes as JL did last season. I hate to rain on your ignorant mentally unhinged parade again, but even without the benefit of a redshirt year to prepare, JJ was clearly a much better quarterback both physically a mentally than JL was last year. Plus unlike JL, he also made extensive improvements in succeeding games he played in while JL remained stuck on awful in every game he played in the entire season.

quote:

Last year was an unusual set of circumstances that all parlayed into a bad season.

Early on, I bet Lee will be primary back-up. I see him giving way to Shep more and more, though, as he is likely the qb of the future (if he does indeed stay at QB). Chris will probably redshirt the season and be the Flynn to Shep.

That's my ridiculously early prognostication. I foresee Lee transferring at season's end, bad for LSU but good for Lee, and having a great career elsewhere.

I'm glad Lee stayed, as it always heps to have a back up with SEC starting experience. I don't "hate" Lee, but I do get the Jamie Howard/Wade Richey headcase vibe from him. I would love him to stay at LSU, but I think new surroundings would do him some good.

you disputed this statement, meaning you believe that JJ has not beaten out JL for the starting job. Miles' quote has nothing to do with what the original quote was

For the record, nobody would be more thrilled if Lee turned it around and became the greatest QB in LSU history than myself. Even Roaad would happily scarf down a double helping of crow, were Lee to lead LSU to an SEC Championship.

I just don't see it coming from Lee. He has Howard written all over him. Unfortunately for Lee, we have better than Melvin Hill in the stable.
