These things are always fun, but have you guys ever taken a look at the actual Heisman list and the numbers they put up to see if this type of stuff makes any sense?

Since 1988, only 5 true running backs have won the award.

Barry Sanders - 1988
-Sanders ran for 2628 yards and had 3249 all purpose...and 39 TD's.

Rashaan Salaam - 1994
-Salaam went 2,005 with 24 TD's

Eddie George - 1995
-George went 1,927 with 24 TD's

Ricky Williams - 1998
-Williams went 2124 with 27 TD's. And, let's not forget, broked Tony Doresett's career rushing record with 6279 total yards)

Ron Dayne - 1999
-Dayne went 1834, but in doing so broke Ricky Williams one year hold on the career rushing title with 6397 total career rushing yards)

So...it looks like Chuck Scott would have to put up right out about 2,000 yards rushing with 20 plus TD's. Folks...that ain't gonna happen. Not in the sEC in 2008 it isn;t. And especially not with Scott getting 15+ touches a game.

I had forgotten how many rushing yards Bush had that year...but he won the award more as an all purpose back rather than a traditional back.

Reggie Bush - 2005

Bush went for 1840 yards rushing with 17 TD's, 481 yards receiving and 2 TD's, returned punts for 179 yards and one score and an additional 493 yards on kick returns. Not sure if Bush would have won it if he only had the 1,800 yards rushing and 17 scores.

So...I'd stick with my earlier assement. Scott would have to be in the range of 2,000 yards and 24+ TD's to be in contention...unless Miles suddenly starts throwing the ball to him a bunch and letting him return punts and kicks.

I dont think an LSU back will ever be up for the award... jmo

It's happened before with LSU RBs...

Heisman Votes for LSU RBs
Billy Cannon -- 3rd place (1958)
Billy Cannon -- 1st place (1959)
Jerry Stovall -- 2nd place (1962)
Charles Alexander -- 9th place (1977)
Charles Alexander -- 5th place (1978)

But I agree with what GeauxTigerTM pointed out above... a RB is going to have to get around 2,000 yards rushing to win the Heisman.

This is how many yards our RB had in previous years:

2007
Hester -- 1103
K Williams -- 478
Holliday -- 364
Scott -- 324
Murphy -- 230

2006
Hester -- 440
K Williams -- 436
Alley Broussard -- 281
Scott -- 277
Vincent -- 210
Holliday -- 172

2005
Addai -- 911
Vincent -- 488
Carey -- 234
Skyler Green -- 126
Hester -- 114

2004
Alley Broussard -- 867
Addai -- 680
Vincent -- 322
Hester -- 123
Carey -- 112
