Only Punter to ever average over 50 yds a punt in NCAA history. I can only imagine how long and successful his career would have been had he gone pro. Chad Kessler Bio

We used a pooch punter that year too. The average is inflated

what’s funy about that? We had a pooch specialist for every punt inside of the 50. If Chad made those punts he wouldn’t have averaged over 50 yards for the entire year

that Kessler probably is one of the goat college punters and was that way for four years and you come up with that little tidbit to try and downplay his accomplishments, as if he'd maybe only punted one or two times in his career

Geez, I for one appreciated the tidbit as it does put the statistic in context. He’s not shitting on the guy.

He could only boom it and couldn't chip shot to pin people back.

Great deep ball punter, not greatest punter ever.

Brad Wing in 2011 was a lot better. I swear that dude pinned people inside the 5 yard line 20 times that year.

Dude, no one is bashing Chad. He knocked the piss out of the ball with rarely seen regularity.

But a punter is also judged on accuracy and pinning people inside their own redzone. He didn't have that skill set. He was a home run hitter, which is perfectly fine. I wish we had him every year.

Kessler was great, but jmh is exactly right. You must have “misremembered” LSU football during that time.

Donnie Jones still holds the longest punt record. Just saying

Plus he had the most famous punt in LSU history.

at the time I don't believe that skill set was as focused on as it what it has evolved to now
