Most of the guys that come back for their senior year do it in order to set a good example and to have a good senior year experience
Or they come back b/c they think they will be drafted higher the following draft

The article disagrees with you my friend
No, it really doesn't. Nothing you quoted suggests he was silenced because he was running his mouth. Maybe they were just trying to protect him. That's what I would bet happened.
That said, I really don't like this. Lafell is our best offensive player and should be a very vocal SR leader along with Chuck Scott and Ciron. Whatever reason he's got the gag order cannot be good for LSU.

Well you only silence players and protect them b/c you are AFRAID THEY ARE GOING TO RUN THEIR MOUTHS, and sometimes when you are a player its not good to answer every question straight up, and its good to duck questions

LaFell, who has built a reputation for delivering straight answers and who did not duck questions during his rocky sophomore season until the coaches made him off-limits
So its not the first time
You're misinterpreting the quote. LaFell wasn't "running his mouth" in 2007. He was fielding a million questions about the drops he was having in a very mature manner.
Miles simply made him off limits because he didn't think it was good for LaFell to be constantly answering questions about because he thought it was getting into his head too much. Once he stopped having to answer questions about it, he worked through it better.
But LaFell handled that like a man, much the same way Lee did this year with the trouble he was going through.
Miles did it to take him out of the fire.
