I know anecdotally it is not uncommon for parents of a deceased child to divorce. It is an unbearable event to cope with.

Nesbitt wasn't removed from the bench, he stepped down several months ago.

The highway Cole died on has taken many student lives from NW La traveling to Austin and College Station.

I know the Pittman's personally being raised in Minden. Cole and I played on the same Little League teams. I also have two young sons and have read the book.

Just finished reading this book.
Yeah, the Pittman boys seem to have/had a really great relationship with their dad.
In a way their relationships seemed almost too close. I know I'm very close to my kids and kiss them on the heads and tell them I love them every night. But I can't see myself doing all of the kissing on the lips and holding hands for hours while driving around.
But I'd bet that's infinitely better than having a dad who shows no affection.
The book was very well written. Either Mr. Pittman or the assistant author or the combination of them have excellent writing talent.
I thought the best part was the beginning dealing with Marc Pittman's own childhood. Very poignant.
A good read overall.

The death of his son was tragic. If his book has gotten non-readers to start reading this is a positive result. It is shocking that so many people simply do not engage in reading.

Great book
But "Raising Tony Cole" would have been a better book

Over the last ten years I've probably read maybe 5 books and never have I read one in less than a month.

Now you have to understand that the last book I read was in college over 18 years ago. I just don't read, but for some reason I wanted to read this book.
