I was indeed wrong. I was thinking of the Alabama/A&M game but it was actually Tennessee/A&M that was officiated by former Alabama QB David Smith.

He lives in Alabama. Guess where he went to school?

Is there a link to the announcement from the Big Ten? Michigan got shafted out of a potential playoff spot against OSU.
This idea needs to be implemented by the Big Ten and SEC ASAP!

That was my thought! How in the world would this not already be a rule or a stance adopted by every conference...its great to see something so common sense and needed happen in a business where that happens so infrequently

SEC officials should not work any game in which: (1) they might help in any way their favorite SEC team (e.g., grew up in that state, attended that school, or just for any reason is a fan of that program); and (2) one of the teams playing is in the state where they reside. For example, an official born and raised in Minnesota who now lives in Alabama should work only the SEC East games so he cannot influence the outcome of the SEC Western Division standings. He certainly should not be allowed to officiate any Alabama game because it is human nature to be influenced by the culture in which he lives - he would never want to chance making a bad call that would hurt Bama, one that would incur the wrath and enmity of his local friends and neighbors. The head of SEC officials and anyone having supervisory responsibility over officials (e.g., evaluator of officials - remember Dick Burleson) should be hired from out of state and changed out as often as possible. The replay official that wouldn't overturn the Patrick Peterson interception in 2009 had Dick Burleson in the replay booth with him, knowing that Burleson has influence on his job security and knowing that Burleson was a big Bear Bryant friend and fan and made money with his speeches featuring Bear Bryant stories (you think he might have been afraid to make the right call for LSU that day?).

Surprised we havent had any posters in this thread calling us crybabies and sore losers because we are lobbying for fair officiating policies. They are coming you can be sure of that.

People that dont think there is collusion and bias in football officiating are blind and naive.

FIRST OFF - there is no Alabama bias and the only reason you're saying this is jealousy.

SECOND - changing anything even slightly or even suggesting a change is completely unfair to Bama and is only trying to knock us down because of jealousy.

THIRD - the fact that you're even mentioning the word Bama on this board, which is supposed to be the TIGER rant, is just jealousy.

FOURTH - jealousy ain't got 18!!!!

NCAA needs to grow a pair and fix this corruption in the SEC. Been going on too long. Some of these games with blown calls may have chance the historical landscape and perception of this conference over the last decade.

Lol, so I'm sure a lot of y'all think that we would have beaten Bama and went undefeated if this change had been made before this season started in the sec...
Somehow that would have even changed the results to the Wisconsin game too lol. .get real people

No but there is and has been bias. The SEC's policy is lame and if they really want things to be unbiased they would make appropriate changes.

I strongly agree with other posters that the NCAA should regulate this. The missed holding in this last game is merely a small example. The OSU MI game was similar to what we see all the time. Not just LSU

You do realize if the SEC puts this rule in place. That the REC will just relocate those refs from Alabama to a surrounding state

Big 10 making changes where officials can't officiate game if from the same state as one of the teams playing. Can we get the SEC to do the same or will the Bama privilege prevail? The Ohio State game had at least 3 officials with ties to Ohio.

Well Yeah I would Hope so !!

Yeah, You know there will be MAKE UP CALLS in bama's favor and the LEAGUE OFFICE fires or fines the ref who made the call against the tide.
