The Fighting Tigers / 1893-1993 Peter Finney

I've read them all this one by far is the best written. cohesive, entertaining and historically relevant.

I honestly don't think there is a close second, though I do like The Advocate's compendium of old game stories. They reprint the original articles for the greatest games, and its a pretty cool resource for prior eras, though it gets pretty spotty pre-Dietzel.
