re: Basketball Renewal Season tickets 50% drop

I won't be renewing mine and I got in when they had a special on the 300 sections for $5 each.
LSU needs to put a product on the court before charging ridiculous prices the privilege of buying hoops tickets.

Had mine for about 5 years. Didnt renew simply out of principle. It wasnt the money. I can go to any game and buy tickets or more likely have given tickets to me outside the pmac.
Told the office why I wasnt renewing and they basically said they didnt need my money.

This isn't just about the product on the court
Don't kid yourself. If there was a product worth the price, this would not be happening.

LSU is NOT a basketball school
We were not a baseball school at one time either.
Win regularly and excell sometimes and u will see basketball be much like baseball.

Been a loyal football and basketball fan for almost 40 years. I only have so much discretionary income, and LSU has pushed me out due to the inflated prices. I am choosing not to renew my basketball season tickets either. If I want to go to a game, I'll find tickets. Otherwise, I'll watch them on TV.
As far as all of this shite about the "young money", once the kids are here and in college, that "young money" will be finding out that they also have to make a few choices.

I have a personal written communication from Joe Aleva that expresses a similar sentiment. A lot of arrogance and not much respect for faithful fans. I would have thought after 30 years of being a season ticket holder that you might get some respect. I was wrong

Yup that's why I take the adage of "frick em"
Last season was the most uninspired team I've witnessed in the 10 years I've religiously watched LSU basketball.
And the young money isn't going to fill the seats. I am "young money" and my cheap arse dumped 200 level tickets.
No one's going to go unless we win on a consistent basis, Trent promotes the program and we get some exciting players.

30 years I sat in prime seats lower level- this year I will either watch em on tv, buy seats for 5 bucks outside or free

Can you please post this? It would be interesting to see. Thanks.

The lack of renewal is not surprising. It is hard to figure that they are getting what they wanted here.

The administration knew this would happen. They were trying to get rid of all of the "season ticket holders" that never went to the games. There are so many empty seats that the LSU office couldn't sell because some old season ticket holder wasn't going to the games. Now they are getting rid of those and replacing them with people that want to be there. (By replacing, I also mean letting those with poorer seats moving into more prime locations)

Diabolical.
I guess I'll buy into that theory.

And I agree. TAF fees are banking on Basketball turning great. Even if it does, it will take a few years before 13000 people pony up that kind dough. It is greedy, plain and simple. Sad day LSU & TAF. But hey, they are arrogant enough to try it, they may be lucky enough to pull it off. What business other than government would pull that stunt?
Maybe the Miami Heat. But they got Lebron. Who do we have? Yea, I thought so.

TROPICAL STORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT

I just got off the phone with the ticket office and they said they are at about a 50% renewal rate for existing LSU basketball season tickets! Wow that is a blow! It must be in due to the new tradition fund that went in effect this year!
Duh! How could they have expected anything else.
In a sport where the fan base is dying spit in the face of the loyal fans left trying to get behind a coach with some integrity and that's what happens.
Incomprehensible!
Let's slap a ticket surcharge on after our worst season in 40 years!
Who came up with the idea and how did enough folks back it to get it through? Insanity man.
