yes they were. I hope that the pen continues to do their job. there's no such thing as a perfect pen but last year's guys were about as inconsistent as I've ever seen at LSU, esp on a club that good. throwing strikes was a serious problem.

my biggest concern is the rotation tho. losing lang and poche' is tough. this is the type of year you want to see a new starter step up.

Beck was really good and fought through the tough calls.

You’re a miserable moron. Every time you post it’s negative bitching. Gilbert has been a stud his entire careee and you’ve deduced he can’t be a starter after one bad outing in the first game. Shmuck

c'mon man I didn't interpret his post as being negative at all. he merely asked a question.

some regular baseball posters sure have a "better than thou" complex around here. uber sensitive and anxious to prove they, and only they KNOW baseball. I wish you guys would chill out a little. this isn't football, thank god.

Thats because the regular baseball posters are constantly bombarded with dumbass remarks from posters who haven't paid any attention. It gets old and we get annoyed. Im sure we can do better but alas....

As far as Gilbert he didnt have a good start but I'm going to wait to see what he looks like with a real catcher behind the plate and with a little time. It takes a little while for the pitching to get going.

Gilbert will be fine. We know what he can do. I'm sure there were some opening game jitters, but like you said, catching did him no favors at all either.

Looking forward to an exciting year.
