Attorney Perspective on Coach E's long delayed announcement - speculation

Wondering why it took so long to announce Coach E as the OC. I now think it was probably due to contract termination discussions with Canada. LSU probably couldn't promote Coach E to OC until they had settled with Canada. Since the Advocate article details the Canada termination provisions, I can only assume that issue was just resolved and it appears that is behind us. As such, the LSU attorneys probably just gave permission that they could announce Coach E's hiring.
This is pure speculation, but it may explain why it took so long. Not excusing anyone, but attorneys (like myself) sometimes prevent clients from doing things until all prior matters are settled to maintain a certain position in negotiations.
Just my two cents worth on the discussions and I have no source for this speculation.

Makes sense.
Announcing Ensminger as OC while Canada was still under contract would be an anticipatory breach and left LSU with even less leverage to negotiate with Canada. Seems that LSU had little leverage to begin with and the 1.7 mil cash payment seems to reflect that.
