Mike DeTillier said this morning that LSU and South Carolina would be his two divisional picks next pre-season barring any surprises in the returning players.
Track record for pre-season picks for the SEC West has not been very good historically. Like two of the last 10 or some such.

I think if LSU doesn't win the west next year it is unacceptable. Unless they go 11-1 and lose in 5ots to the Division winner and I'll give him another year

I agree about the 8-0 thing. That is usually not the case, but has been the last few years.
Think again. Bama was rebuilding their D this season, and is on the verge of a third #1 recruiting class in four years under Saban. They lost three games with a kiddie corps Defense, yet were in all three games, two of which their foe clearly played their best game of the season by far.
Winning the SEC West in future years, may well require the 8-0 that has won it these last three years. It will certainly at least require 7-1 with tie-breaker edge. And not the 6-2 that LSU often has finished at, under Saban and Miles.
The ante has been raised!

Miles loses a minimum of two SEC games a year, so hopefully it will be a down year for the SEC west for us to capitalize.

Either play in Atlanta (SEC Championship) or in a BCS game next year or get rid of Les
I'm as devout as it gets with defending Les, and I agree with this. We're set up very well next year in terms of being the team in the West that has the least turnover. Our defense should be very good again early in the season, we'll be able to run the ball well with Ford + Ridley, and if we can finally find an offensive identity, whether that be through Jefferson, through Mett, or through a new OC, both of the prior things will hold up down the stretch as they failed to do this year.
Not winning the West next year would be unacceptable given the latest streak.

Unfortunately, Auburn and Arkansas have passed us.

Hey Tiger Stadium 11, get Bama's dick out of your mouth.

Yes - let's get back to all of our undefeated SEC records over the years.

This is LSU, it's unacceptable to not win it every year.

We won the West with a 10-1 record in 05. So yeah, there goes that theory that Miles can only win the West with 2 or more losses.

Your boy Saban lost 3.2 per year at LSU. And he can't maintain a team.

but.... but... Saban had to "rebuild" the program!

And I don't consider Auburn to be "elite" in the longterm, I just they have the good fortune of having landed a really special player in Cam Newton that can single-handedly will his team to a title (ala VY 2005).
Need to change this just a bit: they have the good fortune of having bought a really special player in Cam Newton. So, they're really a professional team playing for the SEC championship. A dirty, dirty program playing a dirty, dirty player, playing for a dirty, dirty SEC commissioner. I thought Mark Emmert had too much integrity to allow this guy to play in any more games. From now on, they might as well hold auctions for the elite players without their knowledge. That'll be permissible.

It happens whan you pay refs not to call holding for 8 stright games. It's the Cam Newton of "Championships"
