Na. I graduated in 2007. I live in Asheville now. I wish I still lived in Boone. I loved it there.

Obviously, LSU plays within a higher overall level of competition. But there's another way in which the "national championships" don't compare.

LSU has never won a true football "national championship." Neither has any team in the top level of college football. Even with the BCS, the top level of college football only has "mythical" national championships.

Would LSU have any national championships if the Tigers had had to earn such through a playoff tournament? We'll never know.

One thing you can say about App State: The Mountaineers went through playoff tournaments to get their titles. They didn't get them because pollsters and computers decided they should be in a "championship" game without having to win any playoff games to get there. At their level, they are true national champions.

Such a thing does not exist in the I-A/FBS world.

That's like believing you're champs just because your jv team never lost to anybody.
