In the early 1980s, the game with Florida State for the right to to go to the Orange Bowl. The game where oranges pelted the field throughout the game. Before the game, I recall a Seminole riding his horse onto the field with his flaming spear. We were thinking “WTH? How can this happen at an LSU home game?” It was all a show. Mike the Tiger came onto the field and pulled the Seminole off the horse and pretended to pummel him. Today that would be considered insensitive.
