Are “Upset Alert” the most useless words in sports punditry?

Of course there’s an Upset Alert. Every favored team is on upset alert. By practicing and playing to win the game, they are, by definition alerted about a possible upset.
Maybe I’m turning into an angry old(er) man, but MFSOB all of these people on ESPN are morons.
